1. Why is there a new or renewed interest in the field of project management? IT is growing at a rapid rate and with that growth demands people to manage this growth. People I think are more trained to be project managers and also there is new software that helps tremendously with the management part of the tasks. So demand is up, skilled workers are up, and the cost benefit is there for this renewed interest.

2. What is a project, and what are its main attributes? How is a project different from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs? What is the triple constraint? A project is a task that usually isn’t a normal part of everyday jobs. It is a product, service, or result that requires special or unique training or demands. It is different from the day to day job because it is a special task that is not usually part of day to day operations. For example you may normally be in charge of making sure the network is online everyday but then the company may be moving to a new building and you will then be in charge of managing the installation and implementation of a completely new networking system. A triple constraint is simply constraints of scope, time, and/or cost that will affect a project.

3. What is project management? Briefly describe the project management framework, providing examples of stakeholders, knowledge areas, tools and techniques, and project success factors. Project management is using knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. The framework includes project stakeholders, project management knowledge areas, project management tools and techniques. Stakeholders are the people being affected by the projects activities which include project sponsor, project team, customers, and users. Knowledge areas are competencies that project managers must develop that are areas dealing with scope, time, cost, and quality.
