Project Love
Introduction
In our Project, we deducted a research on love expressed in music. As young adults music reaches out to us, and is easy for us to understand and relate to. Brainstorming love, we noticed that books, theater and art, all express love, yet the most intriguing method to express it is music. Music is a very creative manner of expressing love and affection. The rhythm makes it unique and separates from other artistic method. We chose to research questions such as how and which types of love are expressed in songs.
It is clear to us that many love songs are about heartbreaks and personal situations. These are all universal feelings, which man and women don’t fully understand. In our project we hope to find out through music about types of love and if the possibility of categorizing it exists. Can love songs change theme throughout different decades? Is it possible for love to mature and change? Moreover, What might be the motive for love song to change their types of love?
"The Beatles", served us great example to answer these questions and prove our theories.
"love- a widely misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain" (taken from John Alon Lee's Six types of love). Most of us try to understand it despite the difficulty of the meaning behind it. John Alon Lee , a well known psychologist, explored love and its mysteries which we all desperately wish to understand. In Lee's book of research "the colors of love" he categorizes six different types of love, in order to make it easier for the readers to understand.
The six types of love as described by Lee:
1. Eros- from the Greek word " erotic or passionate"; a passionate physical and emotional love based on aesthetic enjoyment; stereotype of romantic love.
2. Ludus is a game-playing or uncommitted love. Lying is part of the game. A person who pursues ludic love may have many conquests but remains uncommitted..
