I have always been fascinated with computers going back to when I was in elementary school. I was intrigued by the capabilities of technology, and after acquiring my own desktop computer I began to explore the vast combinations and possibilities of an operating system. Since I had yet to become connected to the internet, I spent my time teaching myself what each program and setting could produce. Much of my early knowledge of computers stemmed from my curiosity, and by fourth grade I was known as the “go to technician,” helping the teachers connect their laptop to the projector or other similar tasks. When our school added a new high-tech computer lab I was ecstatic, and in this lab I learned even more, adding to my existing knowledge. My reputation at school grew, and every year increasingly more teachers called on my assistance, even following me through middle school and high school. My interest continued, and for my eighth grade career fair project I built a fully running computer from spare parts, without a metal enclosure or hard drive, using a flash drive to boot and run a Linux based operating system. As a senior I work with my school’s IT Department as a student intern: solving problems, completing research, and maintaining the functionality of our equipment. I find helping others with my skills very rewarding and this further drives…

If I wanted a programming class or attend computer camp it would cost a lot of money that I didn’t have. I want to make it easier for the next generation. I can fantasize about making an entire school for the gifted low income students but let us be practical. While that goal can be achieved I would like to start off small. I would like to do simple things such upgrading a school’s technology department or forming a computer club at a local school. Through the club I can teach people who want to learn about technology, but doesn’t have the means to take a course. In this way I can significantly impact a lot of lives without having to make huge and idealistic…

There is no doubt that a program like this can benefit both our children in this community and our organization. I truly believe that our organization can handle this, and provide these kids something that is truly valuable. The logistics of this sort of undertaking would be extensive. There are a lot of unanswered questions to how we can start this program. But I want you to consider what this would mean to our community and to our organization. I urge you to push this forward to our planning committee and get the ball rolling. Thank you for your time and…

The true purpose of the youth summit “Go Negosyo” according to Joey Concepcion (founder of Go Negosyo) was to inculcate to the youth the right mindset in putting/starting up a business. We must have the right values to be possessed. According to Atty. Felipe Gozon, current chief executive and chair of GMA Network Inc., one of the largest media networks in the Philippines, an entrepreneur must have a positive work attitude and starts with the youth. He said that we are lawyers by professions. The most economically progressive countries are the China and the United States. He shared his experiences being an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur according to him must realize his/her prorioties. He/she must have the courage and willingness to get out of his comfort zone and don’t just be contented on what he/she had. One of his inspiring message was “We do what we say, and we say what we do”. We must face the challenges. Somebody may think something better for the following day. If you manage to find yourself at the top, don’t just be contented by it, continue to embrace change. Somehow, there is a better way on doing such things. Always remember, there is someone who can able to do things you do at better manners. Take courage in every failure, what matters is that don’t lose your lesson. These are the things I have learned from him.…
