This is a process analysis essay on procrastination.
I love Procrastinating

College Freshman sit at their computer, trying to think of the words, the words they need to complete their process-analysisessay. They waited too long to do it, and now they wonder; how they will survive?

So there you are, twelve o'clock on a Wednesday night, without one word of your essay written. But there is a way to conquer your procrastination fever, and I will show you how.

You walk into class one Thursday afternoon. You sit down at your desk with your English 104 writers handbook in front of you. You have all you need for the class: pens, paper, extra pens, some pencils and finally your notebook. The teacher walks into class, and announces that there will be a process-analysisessay due the next Thursday. Reading the choices, you start to decide which subject is better for you. You know that the assignment is due the next week, but instead of setting aside time that day, or later that week, you stuff the paper into your book bag and leave class.

During the course of the week, you occasionally glance at your choices and remember that your essay will soon be due. You run a few ideas through your head, but none seem to give you that creative "kick" that makes you want to actually sit down and write it. Later in the week, around Wednesday, you finally have that brainstorming brilliant idea for an essay that will rocket you to the top of the class, give you an A, and win you favor in the eyes of your English 104 teacher. The only problem is, you forget about the assignment, you are so busy with work and other school assignments that you actually forget to write the actual essay. So you wake up Wednesday morning and you say to yourself that today you are going to write your essay. Thursday morning rolls around, and as the alarm goes off, you remember, "Oh, no! My process-analysisessay is due today and I have not even started on it!"

Now that you have successfully procrastinated to Thursday morning, you can start your essay. What you will need to write this essay is a computer and some computer printing paper. Granted that your computer has a keyboard and a word-processing program in it, you are all set.

First thing you need to do is to quickly scribble an outline for the idea you came up with on Wednesday. Organize your ideas according to order of importance or in chronological order. Your teacher wants you to have certain aspects of grammar in your paper. He wants phrases separated by commas from the rest of the sentence, these are good ways of adding an intelligent flair to your writings. Good conclusions are also good. They help raise your grade and make your paper more concrete.

Take your paper, proofread and use a spellchecker on it, and take a good copy of it with you to your class. Make sure you get there on time, if not early, to hand in your paper so no one will suspect that you just finished writing it. Remember, when you hand your paper into your teacher, remember to smile and give him a nice greeting.

Now take this knowledge with you, so that wherever you are, you will be able to defeat procrastination downfalls. It will make you wiser, stronger, and more high-strung with the introduction of large amounts of stress. Or you could just write your paper earlier in the week; it is up to you.

Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I trudge up two flights of stairs with the wind whipping at my face as my fingers feverishly click out the final text message I need to send before class starts. I walk into the warm, musty computer lab and sit at my usual spot with the view of the library through the tree limbs. I am always sure to come to English class because I know of my terrible history in this subject area. I have always struggled with English and before this semester had assumed that the college level class would be the death of me. As I read over the syllabus for this class it states that we will learn to understand writing assignments as a series of tasks and develop flexible strategies for generating, revising, editing, and proof-reading the assigned papers. I shuddered at the sheer thought of having to write five papers. Narrative, Evaluation, Profile, Position. These words might as well have been written in another language because I had no idea how to differentiate between them. Despite my fears, I believe this semester’s English 101 course has truly helped me develop my writing skills and advance to a more capable writer.…
