Problem Solving Essay: Teen Suicide

The thought of a young teen taking their life because they are depressed or overwhelmed with hopelessness is heartbreaking. Teen suicide takes the lives of over 38,000 Americans every year. The extent of the problem continues to increase every year, especially when teens from your home town are choosing to take their own life. Life can be an emotional rollercoaster but for some young teens the depression eats them alive. Many are fighting thoughts of suicide daily and need a helping hand. When an individual makes that decision to take their own life they are cutting all ties with their pain. When in reality they have so much to live for but they would rather end it all right in that moment. And in that moment there could have been a possibility to have done something that could have stopped them. It begins with irritation, it’s something that they try to avoid but it keeps coming back. Some may be able to put it off for a while, but eventually it begins to overpower their mind. Over time the ability to cope diminishes and all control is lost that’s when they start thinking, and attempting suicide. The causes of teen suicide are complex. There are many different aspects that could cause someone to fall into suicidal attempt. Young teens experiencing bullying, depression, or are in a poor relationship could show possible signs.

Hanes 2 Some teens push off the problems and think with time everything will get better. That’s not the case time is a key role because timing is everything. The last thing you want to do is wait it out and see if it gets better. In that time frame one single thing can trigger a wrong turn and it could all be over. As there are multiple solutions to end the problem to teen suicide it is finding one that is timely and one that teens will be open too.

Such things as getting a boyfriend or girlfriend or whether or not they have had sex and are a virgin or not are types of stresses and pressures that a teen can and most likely will receive from other teens. Also another major stressor for teens is whether or not they are gay or not. Most teens who are gay don 't want to believe that they are. They will then deny the fact and this will force stress and pressure on them to act as if they are not gay and get a boyfriend or girlfriend.
