Pro Animal Testing. Raini
"In a world in which 20,000 human beings die of cancer every day, it would be a cruelty to NOT engage in animal testing" (Michael Rivard, CNN News). Animal testing is a very large controversy. Some say animal testing is wrong, unethical, and unfair, but what would the world be like without animal testing? Who knows? Could there be many more fatal sicknesses? More life threatening diseases? Thousands of deaths from the common cold? In a few years, courtesy of animal testing, we could even have a cure for cancer! Animal research is imperative because there would be no advances in curing diseases or in developing vaccinations or prescriptions, which would lead to more sickness and more serious consequences for even the common cold.
Animal research is important in understanding diseases and developing ways to prevent them. Kidney transplants, the polio vaccine, and heart surgery techniques have all been developed with the help of animal research. With increased efforts throughout the scientific community, effective treatments for diabetes, diphtheria, and many other diseases have had increased effectiveness courtesy of animal testing. Scientists inject a lab animal with a virus such as AIDS or cancer, and then try to cure them. If it works on a lab animal, they have developed a new cure. The followers of animal testing agree that if animal testing had been eliminated, that many of the medications and medical procedures that we currently use today wouldn’t be present and the expansion of future treatment would be greatly restricted. For example, more than 100,000 people have been hospitalized and later died from toxic reactions to medications in 1994 that were not predicted by animal

While some people are fortunate and do not have any medical condition others depend on animal testing to survive or to live a happier and healthier life. Life long injuries such as asthma, cancer, and blindness have been killing people, making them miserable, and unhappy. By following through with animal testing it allowed diseases to be understood and helped gain solutions to help human survivability. With the ability to test on animals these things have been cured or greatly reduces to help thousands upon millions of people. Overall people have greatly benefitted from animal testing as well as many are fortunate enough to go back to their regular lifestyles with the people they love and enjoy being around. While there will always be people who want to stop animal testing because they want the animals have the chance also; animal testing has been a blessing to people who never would have imagined of having a long, happy, active lifestyle which most definitely overpower the cons of animal testing. I do believe that some animals should be backed off of from testing such as horses, dogs, and monkeys since they are well loved by people. However using rats has made most of the discoveries and since rats are not the most liked animals, scientist should keep testing on them to make new discoveries. Animals should most definitely be used for the sole purpose of expanding the medical treatments and should be treated kindly not harshly or roughly handled. Since animal testing has given people a second chance in life pretty much, we need to be kind to the animals and know that they are not objects we are testing on they are alive and deserve to be treated with respect. Thanks to animal testing people can once again live a much more normal life at home or a place they find most comfortable rather than be stuck in a hospital for long periods of…

Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

Animals everyday are suffering in laboratories because of animal testing. Animal testing is a horrible thing, even though it has lead to some medical breakthroughs. Although there better alternative options. If you weigh the pros and cons to animal testing it is clear that animal testing is wrong, even if there have been outcomes that have turned out well. Even though animal testing can help create cures, they have shorter life cycles, and sometimes finding cures for them, vitro testing, animals suffering, and the animals being extremely different from humans are all reasons why animal testing is a horrible thing.…

Cancer is a terrible disease, 12.7 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year and over 7.6 million die from the disease. Cancer is currently being studied and a cure has not been found, wouldn’t it be nice if we were to speed up the process of finding a cure? With animal testing this can be done quicker than by studying on other things that are “humane”. Many people believe that animal testing is wrong and should be stopped but at the same time more and more people are dying from all kinds of infections and diseases. The same infections and diseases that could be cured faster through the process of animal testing and research. Although animal testing can be analyzed as cruel and inhumane, it is crucial to discovering…

Throughout history, animal testing has been used for a variety of research and tests, but we never stop to realize the cruelty and inhumanity of their environments. Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” (qtd. in Hajar). Animal testing is unnecessary and irrational because we have the technology to replace the inhumane testing, which proves to be even more accurate and precise with its results as well. With new technologies such as cell cultures, human tissues, and in vitro tests, we are able to replace some of the tests that cause harm and discomfort to those animals.…

One might not realize how much animals have to go through each day to test to see if products will be safe for people to use. Animal testing is a common way in which millions of animals are abused, and killed each year with chemical substances so that laboratories can test certain chemicals, and produce different types of medicines for people to use. Although, animals are very different than humans, and not all products tested on them will have the same effect for a person. To that, animal testing is an unethical way in which millions of animals have to suffer, and is a cruel and unnecessary process.…

Yes, despite all the negative aspects, I am pro animal testing. These tests are not performed for no reason; they are performed in order to find drugs and treatments to improve health and medicine, and treat illnesses for both humans and animals. By testing animals, scientists have saved countless lives. In fact, research states that it is a fact that the white rat has saved more lives than the calling of 911. Had it not been for animal testing, terminal diseases like tuberculosis and cholera would still be around, and the medical treatments that we use today wouldn't exist, and the development of future breakthroughs would be limited.…

An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. Animals are used to develop medical treatments, determine the toxicity of medications, and check the safety of products destined for human use. Animals that are used to test medical treatments or other scientific tests most of the time don’t survive, for every hundred medications tested, 92% of them fail, and 50% of the animals that got tested die, those that don't die are later killed(92/100 animals ...."Top Five Reasons to Stop Animal Testing). Cancer, Down syndrome, heart problems, diabetes, and others are some of the main diseases scientists are trying to find cures for. The other side to animal testing can potentially save lives by finding cures for these life threatening diseases. This is why some parts of animal testing are so vital to our health systems and patients. Many universities use animals to test in different types of training programs. At the University of Michigan nursing students used a cat to practice putting a tube into its windpipe. The goal of the procedure was for nurses working on survival flights to be able to perform the procedure to patients in critical condition. The cat was later adopted into a family and was not harmed at all (Kozlowski). Although this particular procedure seems harmless to the cat and sounds painless campaigns continued to protest against using live animals and PETA continued to press the subject. They wanted them to replace using live animals with simulators which virtually does the same thing (Kozlowski). Tests like this that are done seem so minuet compared to others that are used for finding cures. Animal testing for human health has been said to be unsafe, unreliable, and expensive. On the contrary there have been cases where animal testing for medical reasons has in fact found vaccines and cures. From 1940 to 1960 polio was one of the most popular and well known diseases. Due to the research conducted on…

Animal testing can be very effective and helpful not only for humans but for the animals themselves, too. when you test an animal to see if a product or medication is safe for people, scientists are able to find out more about the animals and how to prevent many serious medical conditions concerning animals. Paragraph 4, passage 1, states that "Humans are not the only ones that benefit from animal testing. Diseases like rabies, distemper, anthrax, hepatitis, feline leukemia, and many more are all treatable thanks to animal testing.". Also, drugs that save lives would not reach the market, because we would have no way to test them. if we were to stop animal testing then there would be many humans dying from diseases and medical trials. animal testing prevent many diseases…
