Pro and Cons of Living the City
The Advantages and Disadvantages of City Living Living in the city has its pros and cons. I lived in New York City for 15 out of the 20 years of my life. I have noticed plenty of differences after living in New Jersey for 5 years. In New York most stores that cover your basic need are all at a walking distance, everybody lives on top of each other, finding a parking spot is a headache. But living in the suburbs is not all peaches and cream neither its also has its flaws. One of the biggest differences between living in New York City and living in New Jersey is the closeness of the stores to your home. For example if you live in Manhattan grocery stores or bodegas as they call them and supermarkets are at a walking distance. So if your home preparing dinner and you forgot to grab salt while at the supermarket don’t worry. You do not have to jump in your car and drive for 15 minutes to arrive at the nearest supermarket rather just walk to the corner. That difference does not only apply to grocery stores and supermarket but almost anything you can think of. Depending on the area you live in you might have anything from an electronics store to a doctor or a dentist on your street. The difference in New Jersey is that everything is so far away. For the simplest thing you have to get in your car and drive 10, 15 at times even 20 minutes to get your tasks done. The second biggest difference is housing. In New Jersey there are a lot of houses and most of them are spaced out. In the city 90 percent of the people live in apartment buildings. These buildings are very different from the apartment complexes we have in the suburbs. City buildings range between 4 and 50 stories high some even reach heights for 100 stories high. Compared to the apartment complexes here in New Jersey they are very different. In New Jersey the buildings range from 2 to 4 stories in height. Apartments in the suburbs offer more.
