Does Canada have great healthcare? Is it the best? How much do we pay? These are a few questions that millions of Canadians ask themselves every day. A large amount of Canadians are concerned with the future of our countries healthcare. Lots of Canadian citizens have different opinions on privatization of healthcare, including economist. In this essay I am going to talk about the history involved with privatization of healthcare, economic perspectives, stakeholders involved, positives & negatives, and also my own opinion.

Currently, 85% of Canadians are happy with Canada’s existing health care plan. The people who want health care to be privatized are usually people that don’t make many trips down to the hospital and also high taxpayers. This people argue that the current public health care is wasting their money from health insurance and paying taxes. They also validly stat that the private clinics provide a number of services with a lot shorter wait times then the current public system. The thing is that these people promoting and supporting the privatized health care system never bring u the actual costs of this system. The average fee per month for private health care coverage in the United States is about $1200. At that price per month its almost as if these Americans are paying for an extra mortgage without the actual house. While there are the shorter wait times, still many others contradict to the privatized health care system. They argue that the private system will destroy what most Canadians are proud to say they have, “free health care” and also they believe that it will favor people with vast incomes. The Canadian health care system helps the economy by providing a competitive advantage. A huge amount of jobs had been lost because of the impact of the higher Canadian dollar on exports.
