Private Space Programs
The US spends only 3.41 billion on the space program as of 2011 and is getting smaller every year, while china spend 5.51 billion on their space program. On July 20th, 1969 2 million Americans watched Neil Armstong walk on the moon. As he walked on the surface, he said “that’s one step for man, and one giant leap for mankind”. As of 1972 the moon mission were stopped and the farthest we go now is the ISS (International Space Station). Now that we don’t explore space, we might never have a leap for mankind again. The government should increase spending on the space program because we need to find new habitable places to live, we have private space programs that could possibly hurt/ spy on the country, and it can help us move forward to finding …show more content…
Some people say if we travel around space and find a habitable planet that it will further the arms races which might start a galactic war for the found habitable planet. They think this way by cause of what has happened before with huge moments in history, like the atomic bomb starting the hydrogen bomb race with Russia (Obama et al.). Otherwise, If we travel space and find a habitable place to live and another country would like to explore it too, then we could form an alliance and it might bring enemy countries together. The USA exploring space could help more than just us, we could maybe find objects that could help the whole world. While we did a great deal of space exploration around the earth and the moon, we found information that helped the entire world, the facts are quite clear …show more content…
If the government does not increase then the rest of the world will continue to grow into space powers and get bigger than us. The US would be the laughing stock of the space programs. The main problem would be other countries could take pictures of our land and find out secrets or have missiles waiting to be fired on us from space. Not increasing the space program might be the end of the world. If you could travel to space, what would you want to do, well you can’t till US increases

After World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union created their own missile programs. On October 4th 1957, the Soviets launched the first satellite into space. Later on, a national goal of “Landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth within a decade” was set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 (Space Race). On July 20, 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first man walking onto the moon. The space exploration improved for the century, and now the advances of technology have pushed space travel to go further and discover other planets in solar system. However, in order to explore universe in details, many scientists have endeavored very hard to invent more new high technologies. Therefore, with its high technologies, space exploration has a lot of impacts on us today. For example, with the satellite system put up in the space, the weather forecast today has a high accuracy level, and this accuracy has helped in preventing many calamities.     When I did this study, it was 34 years after the last dime had been spent on Apollo, the last of the manned Moon programs. Thirty-four years later, when I would ask guests on The Space Show, students, and people I met who were involved in science, engineering, and space-related fields and businesses about what inspired or motivated them to start a space business or pursue their education, over 80% said they were inspired and motivated because of our having gone to the Moon. Businesses were started and are now meeting payrolls, paying taxes, and sustaining economic growth because the founder was inspired by the early days of the manned space program, often decades after the program ended! This type of inspiration and motivation seems unique to the manned space program and of late, to some of our robotic space missions.
