Task A – Short Answer Questions

Candidates will explain the following:

* What duty of care means in children and young people settings (Ref. 1.1) Duty of care means it is your duty to care for the children, to protect them from any danger and harm. The younger the children, the more you have to watch over them as they are more vulnerable as they are more dependable on you whereas, the older ones are not so vulnerable but still need to be watched over until they have become adults. |

* How this contributes to the safeguarding or protection of individuals (Ref. 1.2) With safeguarding you need to carry out risk assessments making sure there are no potential hazard left lying around to endanger the children or may cause any accidents or spreading of viruses. Depending on the age and development of each child, boundaries should be set that could upset other children and if broken they will know the consequences of their action.
