Career and Leadership Goals

As I embarked into this higher education path I wanted nothing more than to be an administrator of an Elementary or Middle School in Texas. I was able to even envision myself in the school district I currently work in working in school administration at one of the schools I have taught at. I was fortunate on my internship year to have the position of being the instructional technology facilitator and was able to help more in depth with the administrators of my campus and learn the in and outs of the administration side of the school. Looking at all of this and having experienced it I am now thinking I am leaning towards more working towards becoming a department head or maybe the head of a academic department for the district. I am hoping the first step to this will be to become the department head for fifth grade on my campus and then moving towards becoming the English Language Arts and Reading department head. Eventually over time I hope to move into a more Reading Specialist position for a campus or even possibly a district. My ultimate goal is to move into the administration building and become a curriculum director for a district.

As a leader I hope to accomplish many things to my employee’s and staff like being stronger leaders in the classrooms, stronger teachers, and being able to empower students for long term success. I have always wanted since I entered education to see the end result of my students to be a positive one and love to see the academic growth my students show over the course of a school year. I think that being

Have you ever wondered if you received the best education growing up? Can you recall a bad teacher that made you hate the class they were teaching? For some of us, having good teachers meant getting good marks in school. In "Waiting for Superman", Davis Guggenheim, demonstrates throughout his documentary on the importance of good teachers and schools, and how they have a tremendous impact on students and their education. We can make our students futures brighter, if schools get more involved in the education of their students. Rather than making decisions that are not in the best interest for our children's education, schools need to focus on providing better education for children. To stop so many schools from being failure factories.…

Educational leadership directives are changing due to the fact of new administrative philosophies used to stay competitive with other postsecondary educational organizations. This style of leadership has evolved out of the changing culture and climate with increasing enrollment numbers, higher costs and decreasing financial resources. Staying competitive within the higher education system will be a top priority for all current and future leaders. How educational leaders establish a correlation between organizational forecasts, and educational outcomes often provide minimal reassurance and confidence among educators within an organization (Drew, 2012). Organizational leadership methods and behaviors need to change to meet the new challenges…

The utmost important aspect of a leader is their ultimate goal, which raises a question. What is my goal as a leader in the various aspects of my life? The ultimate goal for myself as a leader in any group of people is to inspire those I lead. I seek to inspire them to achieve greatness, to surpass their own expectations, to become leaders themselves. If I could not accomplish this, then I would be lacking a key piece of what separates the decent from the exemplary.…

Educational programs demand effort and dedication to be successful. Barber expresses his concern for the lack of literacy in America. In Barbers essay, he states, “As America’s educational system crumbles, the pundits, instead of looking for solutions, search busily for scapegoats” (Barber, 2014, pp.210). America’s government takes minimal actions toward the educational crisis. The situation resembles a hole in the wall that needs fixed, but instead of fixing it America’s society hangs a picture over the hole. The lack of educational reforms causes the America’s youth to fall behind other countries youth in literacy. The lack of effort from the government, from schools, parents, teachers, and students put a strain on learning. Some American citizens proclaim that they want a change in the school systems, but nothing results from it. Barber states, “With all the goodwill in the world, it is still hard to know how schools can cure the ills that stem from the failure of so many other institutions. Saying we want education to come first won’t put it first” (Barber, 2014, pp.217). Society labels schools as “prisons,” and sadly, some are less safe than actual prisons. The lack of safety forces students to focus on their own safety rather than learning. Not all schools provide safe environments for students; The result of this problem is conflicts and disinterest for learning. The lack of effort put forth by America’s society and government is only one factor in this multitude of…

I want every student to leave my classroom learning something. I know that every child has the ability to learn even the smallest things. I feel that a teacher should take on roles outside the classroom as well. Sometimes a teacher is the only person a child feels they can talk to. It is important for the teacher to have a warm, welcoming, and confidence way about her so that the child is more likely to come to her if and when they have a problem. I know that I will provide that to my students. I plan to continue to grow as a teacher through experiences, reflections and guidance from others.…

With knowledge, we are able to pursue the many different avenues in life and careers. What motivates me to be an educator is for the moment. It is that moment where a student makes the connection, and completely understands the lesson I am teaching. Being an educator is one of the most important tasks, because we are providing children with a powerful resource, so they can have a future in something that sparks their interest.
