Text: C. James Goodwin, A History of Modern Psychology, 4th edition, John Wiley & Sons, Inc, 2012

Our textbook contains 15 chapters. We will cover as many as possible and will go through them in sequential order. I hope to be able to cover at least the first 12 chapters (with the exception of chapters 8 and 11, which we will omit). It is important to stay current in your reading. Reading a chapter before it is discussed in class will make it easier for you to follow the lecture material and to separate the wheat from the chaff in the lecture.

There will be five noncumulative exams. The format of the exams will be multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank. Each will account for 20% of your course grade. A standard 10-point grading scale will be used (i.e., 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, etc.). You will need to bring a Scantron sheet (form no. 882-ES, available at the LSU Bookstore) with you on exam days.

A missed exam may be made up only for excused absences as defined by the University (see PS-22). Valid reasons for absences include:
1. Illness
2. Serious family emergency
3. Special curricular requirements such as judging trips or field trips
4. Court-imposed legal obligations such as subpoenas or jury duty
5. Military obligations
6. Serious weather conditions
7. Religious observances.
8. Participation in varsity athletic competitions or university musical events
If a make-up exam is necessary it will be in essay and short answer format. These exams must be completed within two weeks of the original exam date. Contact the TA (listed above) to make arrangements to take a make-up.

A schedule of exam dates is given
