Prince Hamlet Tragic Hero
The character of prince Hamlet is a tragic hero. Prince Hamlet was a university student until his fathers tragic murder by Claudius. Prince Hamlet was extremely philosophical and was drawn to difficult questions that could not be answered with certainty. After Prince Hamlet comes across direct evidence that Claudius is responsible for the death of his father, Prince Hamlet becomes obsessed with revenge. This is key to analyzing Hamlet's character. We can easily see how Prince Hamlet only cares about one thing throughout the play, avenging his father. Prince Hamlet was in love with Ophelia however he disregarded her and accidentally killed her father. And yes, this was a failed attempt at trying to kill Claudius. Hamlet is melancholy, bitter,

An example of this is when Hamlet stabs Polonius through a curtain without even checking to see who it is. Hamlet behaved erratically and upsetting the other characters with his wild speech and pointed innuendoes. In a way Prince Hamlet was two-faced. In the play he stated there is more to him than meets the eye and even he doesn't know what he's capable of. Hamlet never considered the pain he caused to so many characters because he was only filled with hatred and revenge. Prince Hamlet was in fact a man of action. The possibility of the argument "Hamlet is a man of thought" is defiantly a possibility. However Prince Hamlet's days of thought came to an end after his father's death. he was philosophical and contemplative and was a scholar. Hamlet polarized and became a man of action. as stated above Hamlet behaved erratically and all other characters believed he went mad. During the play, it is obvious that Hamlet has a slow decent into the madness of revenge. Hamlet even considered suicide at a certain point in the play.
