Presidential Campaign Argument Paper
Arguments are claims backed by evidence supporting a main idea of the person presenting the argument. The aim of arguments is to assist people with making decisions related to a particular topic or explore a certain topic. One may argue to inform, convince or persuade others. Political candidates use various argument techniques to win over voters. Often time more than one argument technique is used to help political candidates present their case and get others to agree with what they are thinking. Informative arguments are designed to inform people of some things they may not know. However, convincing arguments are intended to make a case and get others to agree with how the presenter is thinking. The argument of persuasion concentrates on influencing behavior by getting others to agree with ones facts and values with the listener accepting the presenter’s conclusion of the topic at hand. President Barack Obama is currently campaigning for a second term as president for the election in 2012. Former President Bill Clinton voices his support for the re-election of President Obama by endorsing him in an ad appealing to the middle class citizens residing in the United States of America. President Clinton uses several of the argument techniques discussed above in his 33 second ad to appeal to middle class citizens and persons who may still be undecided in how they will vote in the 2012 election. In the political ad titled “This is a Clear Choice”, former President Clinton eloquently attempts to inform and convince voters why President Obama is the best choice for President in 2012. In the opening of the ad he voices why President Obama is the clear choice for president as opposed to the republican nominee for president. His focal point in the ad is on who will be the best candidate to return the United States of America back to full employment.
