Present the Effects of Television on Young Minds.
Nowadays, Television plays a very important role in our life. We are getting a lot of knowledge and entertainment from it. The effects of TV on young minds is profound both for the better and the worse.
On the one hand, TV do positive effects on young mind. Nowadays, there are countless TV programs concerning all fields of life such as society, science, education, technology …providing a sea of information on over the word. I can say right away that TV is the best way for the young and all of us to get up-to-date information, knowledge, new conception and technology because of its faster transmission speed than newspapers, more visual effect than radios, more economical consumption than network. In addition, TV is also a most popular form of entertainment. After a long day at study or work, we need a break. Watching a film on TV, we could forget all trouble of the day, feel good and get ready to go back to our work or studies.
On the other hand, We can say that TV are making us less active. We receive everything that TV gives to us. Some of them may be good, some may be bad but the most important thing is we will lose our imaginary ability. Watching TV for a long time can seriously damage us, both mentally and physically. Some people are destroying themselves by watching TV so much, which may cut them off from the real world little by little. We often hear some parents complain that their children spend hours before the little TV screen, ignoring their study, outdoors activities and even their family. Mental laziness becomes physical laziness: we would like to watch sports on TV than to participate; We would like to chat with somebody on Internet than to socialize with neighbors; we would like to stay in bed on sunny weekend that to go out for a walk. Another negative effect of TV on young minds is that it make them more violent. The more violent programs they watch, the less sensitive they become. They are being accustomed to the violent scenes on the movies where there are brutal (tàn bạo) and icy faces with killing machines in their hands. Eventually, we no longer regard violent behaviors wrong; indeed, we even commit violence acts ourselves. The affect of violence on children is more conspicuous, which could be justified by the high criminal rate of youth. As a consequence, more and more people are on their way to urge government to ban violent programs. Anyway, TV has their strong influence to our behavior. Whether the influence is good or bad depends on how long we watch it, what we watch and how we respond to them because everything is advantageous in a way and disadvantageous in another.

Television can have negative impacts on people, especially kids. People learn new skills by observing, then utilizing it, such as when we were kids and learn to walk by seeing our family walking around or learning a new subject in school. Therefore, when watching television it may influence our fundamental social dispositions; no matter if it is good or bad. Almost ninety nice percent of households possess one television. Television is today’s source of news, stories, legends, and characters from previous centuries; the reason why it is so influential. However, only “0.7 percent is used for public service announcements and news”(Sex, violence, profanity...). Television has made many youths to be dull especially in class work. Many youths spend most of their time watching television rather than reading. Reading has now become a difficult endeavor for the youth, as they prefer to watch rather than read. Reading can help children to learn better so that they can have a better life in the future. Even when handling their assignment, they do it while still watching television, which considerably reduces their concentration. I have seen it with my brother who after schools rushes to his usual place and he immediately become engrossed to the television program that is being aired. It takes a lot of convincing to make him to start doing his homework, which he does reluctantly while, still watching ‘his programs’. To him the television is his world and reading is boring as that is how he usually describes it. This will definitely slow his learning since reading stimulates the brain more than watching. Watching does not require a lot of thinking and concentration compared to reading, which one must have an attentive mind to understand the concept. This will therefore lead to more people with…

Television has its good side. It can be entertaining and educational, and can open up new worlds for kids, giving them a chance to travel the globe, learn about different cultures, and gain exposure to ideas they may never encounter in their own community. Shows with a prosocial message can have a positive effect on kids' behavior; programs with positive role models can influence viewers to make positive lifestyle changes. However, the reverse can also be true: kids are likely to learn things from television that parents don't want them to learn. Television can affect kids' health, social behavior and…
