Pre-K Experience Paper
Completing my first week in Ms. Cuiffo’s pre- k class in Madison Monroe elementary school was already an amazing experience. I am now understanding the routine of the classroom, knowing the location of items around the room, and also building relationships with the students. My class is of 15 children with the main teacher Ms, Cuiffo along with a teacher aid. This is a full day pre-k so when I attend I observe their routine from welcome up until naptime.
Being Ms.Cuiffo’s class this past week I have seen the importance of routine for children this age. The routine in this classroom is breakfast, followed by welcome meeting. After orientation and hearing how important it is to work with your cooperating teacher I was so nervous of not getting someone I felt comfortable with. After being with Ms. Cuiffo for this past full week I enjoy working with her and watching her in the classroom. She is very nice, and laid back which makes it easy for me to ask her questions. She has graduated from Kean too which makes things even more helpful because she has been in my shoes. However, the only negative I have about her is that her attitude towards the students isn’t always the greatest. She has been teaching for 18 years and it is obvious to see that she is tired and doesn’t have the same passion for it as she might has had before. Her responds to the students will be short, sarcastic, tired, and as if she is uninterested in the emotions of the students. She kind of comes off as if she doesn’t have the patience for the mistakes preschoolers are bond to make as preschoolers such as making mess, crying, and being antsy. Even though it isn’t really a positive attitude for a teacher with this age however I still feel it is a learning experience of how the attitude of the teacher can affect the atmosphere of the
