Positive Thinking vs. Negative Thinking
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”Winston Churchill.
Positive thinking not only changes the mind, it also affects the body in many ways. If a person allows negative thoughts such as anxiety, anger, or bitterness to control their mind, these thoughts will lead a person to make negative decisions that will affect many lives in a negative way. If a person chooses to develop and maintain positive thoughts, their life will end in a positive result. Knowing the different effects of negative thinking and positive thinking can make a difference in a person’s mental, physical, and emotional decisions. Positive thinking can have a big impact on a person’s mentality. If a person is thankful for the people in their life they will learn to appreciate the company of others. They will have comforting thoughts about these people that are around them all the time, or be thankful for what a person has around them knowing these things are very important to them. If a person cannot appreciate what they have, then why do all the hard work to earn it. Having the feeling of fulfillment with life’s expectations is a way for a positive thinker to be more comfortable in what they have chosen for their life. A person is in the position they are in because of the choices they have made in their life. Positive thinking can lead you to a peaceful mind and less stressful life. Someone who has negative thoughts will find that they will always have negative things happening to them. They are not going to be very happy with some of the choices they have made in their life as a result of a negative outcome. Having negative thoughts can poison the mind and cause a person to be driven into a deep depression. They may find they get frequent headaches, or they may get sick more frequently, or find they are angry and yell a lot. They may even have thoughts of suicide. These are just a few signs of depression. A negative

To confirm that positive thinking works you should look at your friends. It’s almost a fact that everybody has a friend that’s always happy or that's always brings out something good of a bad situation, then compare that person with another person that doesn’t live life that way, and look if that way of thinking make a difference. You will see that the positive one live happier, I don’t say that she/he doesn’t has problems, of course they have but they don’t allow it to overwhelm them. Julie Beck interviews Dr. Rick Hanson, a neuropsychologist, about ways in which people can adopt a happy lifestyle. The first point explained by Dr. Henson is that our brains tend to focus on the negative, which leaves people stressed and unhappy. Dr. Hanson reasons that people need to take positive experiences seriously. In other words, he wants people to “sink positive experiences” deep in people’s brains. Dr. Henson calls this concept “taking in the good.” If people want to achieve this mindset, first they have get rid of positive thinking and adopt clear thinking, which put it briefly means to take into account positive and negative experiences. By relating a little story of evolution, Dr. Hanson arrives to the conclusion that positive…

How can a positive thinking lead people through conflict? Positive thinking can get people through conflict because it engages them to think about the good things in life and blocks out the bad things. An example would be how Anne Frank turned something negative into something positive. Anne Frank wrote, “I don't think I’ll ever feel at home in this house, but that doesn't mean I hate it. It’s more like being on vacation in some strange pension. Kind of an odd way to look at life in hiding, but that's…

According to the Mayo Clinic, “Positive thinking often starts with self-talk. Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. These automatic thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of your self-talk comes from logic and reason. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you create because of lack of information” (Positive Thinking). Being optimistic is absolutely mental. The Mayo Clinic shares the most effective ways to becoming optimistic, “If you want to become more optimistic and engage in more positive thinking, first identify areas of your life that you usually think negatively about, whether it's work, your daily commute or a relationship. You can start small by focusing on one area to approach in a more positive way” (Positive thinking). In order to stay positive the person needs to know they can get over the challenges, “One fundamental attitude is to presume that all problems can be solved and we possess in us the ability to solve the problem in hand. Adopting such an attitude, we would explore all resources and go the extra mile to get things done” (Yew). It is possible to stay positive when conditions are not running…

A study done by Professor Barbara Fredrickson proves that positive thinking is better for bodies and minds. Fredrickson states, “Positive emotions expand our awareness, our ability to take in more and to see the bigger picture is facilitated.” (Malcolm). Here, she’s basically saying that if positivity is used then more minds will be open to suggestions and will see even more opportunities. A positive mindset can help physical health as well. “Having more moments of that open mindset helps us connect with others and it helps us build our resilience and our physical health because we become more energetic.” (Malcolm). Fredrickson is telling us that negative thinking causes bodies to have less energy and makes people moody which is never satisfying. When a positive attitude is used, it can be easy to notice by others and they can then tell if someone is approachable. “With positive emotions, there is more of an easiness in the torso and I think that’s consequently because other people can pick up and let others know that you’re safe to approach.”(Malcolm). Being visibly kind and approachable makes others want to be kind back and could possibly make them think positively as well. Positive thinking is a major factor of mental health and can directly affect multiple things in…
