Positive Behavior Case Study
BRIA staff uses positive behavior strategies to foster a proactive environment of engagement. For instance, while providing the BRIA services Nnaemeka was supported to request help or assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as eating, dressing and using the restroom. One way this is done is encouraging him to use a verbal expression instead of gesturing, becoming physically aggressive or running/wandering away. BRIA staffs will also play games like puzzle count numbers and sing songs like “itsy bitsy spider”, “ants go marching”, and “the wheels on the bus”. It was noted by staff that when Nnaemeka is engaged in the above activities with a few prompts he is able to engage with little to no problem
