Political Environment Case Study This case study provides some good examples of how politics can affect improvement in areas that are much needed within society in general, but especially regarding the area of criminal justice. This is a very likely situation that could happen and shows some of the problems that are involved that slows down the process of improvement. I believe in this particular case study there are extra factors involved such as the governor being a retired football player. This has given him the reputation that he needs but it does not give him insight or experience with the problems regarding the criminal justice field. However, I would not be interested in negotiating. If my programs and new policies are showing improvement and success I would not be willing to compromise these things for the sake of an ex-pro football player’s reputation. I feel that is the position the governor is coming from. My position is that I am improving the corrections system, improving individual’s lives, providing them with trades and skills that they can use when they are released, and giving them the tools to succeed in the real world without having the need to reoffend and end back up in the prison system for society to pay for. In a situation like this, I would defend my policies and the success of them until I was ousted from my position. If society and the correctional system felt that I had done such a good job with making these necessary changes, I don’t feel that I would be able to be fired from my position without much debate and …show more content…
In a situation like this, there would be many supporters throughout society, the criminal justice system, the corrections facilities which I am in charge of, the inmates themselves, the inmate’s families, etc. There would be too much support I could find to stand behind me before I would have to give in and do something completely against my morals and work ethic. What does the governor have to gain from this situation besides popularity? I just don’t believe the governor would be able to get the changes he wants without a big debate involving a lot of
