Political Candidate Analysis
Mitt Romney: The Most Capable Man for the Job On November 6th, 2012, the majority of Americans will be casting their ballads in hopes of a victory for candidates they support. There will be many changes that day as new people replace the old. November 6th will also be the longest day of Mitt Romney’s life. Months of preparation have been put into his campaign, millions of dollars have been donated in support, and Romney has put in a lifetime of experience making him qualified for the position as President of the United States. Each element of his campaign has been thoughtfully planned out to highlight Romney’s strengths. Through his website homepage, video about the American future, and his wife Ann Romney’s speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention, Governor Romney has proven his capability to lead this country through many different styles of rhetoric.
Section 1: The Visual: Mittromney.com
Mitt Romney introduced a campaign website and homepage when he accepted the republican bid earlier in 2012. Previously, his campaign website had been more propaganda and not as much in depth with his plans, but mittromney.com was designed to not only inform people, but be the center for this campaign. Since our culture is now so reliable on technology, a new pressure is put on social media. Aside from the yard signs that are passed daily throughout the city streets, Mitt Romney’s website homepage is the most influential visual image in the campaign. The visual appeal, organization, and wording of phrases all determine whether the website is pursued, or the screen is exited.
As a presidential candidate, Governor Romney needs a precise message that he is the best option for President of the United States. The website needs to be designed for someone who has no idea who Mitt Romney is or what he stands for, because the impact of the website could determine whether or not Romney wins their vote. With that in mind, the color scheme of the website is patriotic colors,

Although his oratorical skills may not be up to par with those of his Democratic counterpart, Romney delivered an effective speech during the Republican National Convention mainly due to his appeal to a wide audience’s emotions, or pathos. Romney demonstrated humility during the beginning of his speech, as he gave a brief autobiography of his life growing up. Romney mentioned, “My friends did not judge me by what church I attended, but, rather, what sports I followed.” This was a clear representation of religious freedom. Romney wanted Americans to feel secure no matter what religion they practiced or what God they worshipped. He spoke of promise, as well. “Now is the time to restore the promise of America… My promise is to help you and your family”, he declared. These telegraphic sentences educed a sense of patriotism from his audience. In this time of disarray, Americans need to feel this sense of pride to restore…

Elections enable voters to select leaders and to hold them accountable for their performance in office. Where the electoral process is competitive and forces candidates or parties to expose their records and future intentions to popular scrutiny, elections serve as forums for the discussion of public issues and facilitate the expression of public opinion. Elections also provide political education for citizens and ensure the responsiveness of democratic governments to the will of the people. They also serve to legitimize the acts of those who wield power, a function that is performed to some extent even by elections that are noncompetitive.…

I am an independent voter, but even I can tell flip-flops and politicians do not go well together. As for presidential candidate Mitt Romney, one may need to second guess the correlation of the two. Extensive research of the two candidates running for presidency in the 2012 election led me to conclude Mitt Romney cannot be depended on to keep a definitive opinion, on how he plans to approach certain issues our nation faces. His character displays indecisiveness over and over again surrounding a few specific issues. The only thing he seems to be sure about is his political party status, a Republican, and his membership in the 1% club. Romney seems to be for or against any issue based on the majority opinion, so he can get the most votes. A few examples on the nation’s issues in which Romney has proven to “flip-flop,” are abortion rights, gun-control, and immigration laws.…

The first thing to say is that the man is clearly labouring under a heavy misconception. Romney is faced with a country that is trending demographically towards his opponents, an economy that it is recovering solidly under Democrat stewardship, and an electorate that has already rejected him twice (he also ran in 2008, when he failed to even secure the Republican nomination) – only a spectacular degree of misunderstanding can possibly have convinced him that this is his moment. But maybe the more interesting question is that of why this misconception persists – why is it that Mitt Romney feels entitled, or even destined, to one day be President?…

    4. The two presidential candidates have two distinct viewpoints on many different issues including the economy, healthcare, how to fix the deficit and debt, and how to handle immigration. Romney believes that the economy should be fixed through his five point plan; he believes that healthcare should be determined by the states and not the federal government, and he believes in self-deportation to handle illegal immigration.…

Presidency is a strong idea in America. It elects our highest executive leader, the president. A good strong, experienced president is a viable resource. Just to be clear, a president should be experienced in someway . They should first occupied a spot in government such as a governor or senator. They will have a voice and understanding in politics, know about foreign policies and politics, and they will know their way around the government. Think about, who would want a presidential candidate without any political experience or would they? As history has shown, freshness has ruled. Even today, presidential candidate Donald Trump is winning. He has no political experience, however he has considered by New York Republicans to be governor in October 2013, but he never ran. This is the most controversial question in politics, maybe. Should amateurs be allowed in the oval office?…

If I live in a battleground state during a presidential election and the major parties are neck and neck with each other, I would probably not consider voting for the third-party candidate. As Ryan Lizza pointed out, it takes a lot for a third-party candidate to even make it to the presidential election. Some of the obstacles they must endure are getting on the ballot in the first place with such harsh burdens placed on them by the other two major parties who do not want third-parties there, as well as doing well in polls. If the two major parties are very close with polls, I don’t see any way how a third-party runner could win anyway. Why would I waste my vote? Therefore, I would vote for the major party candidate that I more closely identify with even though I support the third-party candidate. Inhibiting the party I disagree with is more significant to me than wasting my vote on someone who will not win.…

Having a president with no party affiliation, would mean candidates would have a difficult time raising money for their campaigns. Money is important for elections to help influence and mobilize voters (Kernell, et al.). Campaigning for presidency is a money contest between each candidate and party. For example, the last election Trump was able to spend so much of his personal money to get what he wanted and did not have to rely as much on donors. Modern campaigns are based on technology such as television, internet, radio, and social media (Kernell, et al.). Despite its importance, technology is expensive, which means candidates need an exorbitant amount of money to have a successful presidential campaign. Although, there are regulations on funding during elections, the Supreme Court ruled that the government cannot create laws restricting how much an individual can contribute (Kernell, et al.). Candidates spend so much time and money campaigning, when they should focus on connecting with the people. During national party nominating conventions,…

The presidential election of 2000 is as questionable as President Trump's comments towards women. The film reveals how money is power and connections are major components to winning an election. For example the Secretary of State, Katherine Harris was of close ties with George w. Bush. She denied the request to recount 170,000 votes in the state of Florida. The 20,000 supposed convicted felons appointed by Bush's decision is a prime example of corruption. Out of 20,000 of these people only 637 were actual felons. These "felons" were turned away from the polls because of the similarity between their names and the actual felons. Corruption within the presidency threatened the rights of many citizens. For example, Justice Anthony Kennedy argues…

Another essential point is the subjugation of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) described as a populist radical party. Whose belief suggest an anti-establishment centralized government is critical to combating the corrupt political elites (March 245). This party is staunchly against the United Russia party and actually went so far to demand the resignation of Boris Gryzlov who is the parties leader. United Russia represents a mass majority of seats in the Duma while the Liberal Democratic party has no seats in the Duma. Not only that but United Russia is aligned with the Kremlin and, of course, Putin. The Liberal Democratic party claims the UR monopolizes every situation and mimics the communist party in some aspects (March 246).…

After the September 11 attacks and the subsequent declaration of the Iraq War, the American populace was more eager than ever to elect a president who would be capable of deescalating tensions and crises around the world. Under George W. Bush’s presidency, the American government declared a War on Terrorism, established Guantanamo Bay, passed the PATRIOT Act, and cut taxes for the wealthy and more. Some people, especially those who were Democratic, were dissatisfied with the course of action President Bush decided to take, and they were ready to elect a different president after Bush’s tumultuous term. Barack Obama, a senator at the time, gave a speech at the Democratic Convention announcing his support of John Kerry’s presidential campaign. In his speech, Barack Obama uses ethos and its related rhetorical strategies to highlight the similarities and minor differences between themselves to make John Kerry seem like a viable presidential candidate to the common American citizen.…

I personally am a supporter of Barack Obama. My family is considered a middle class family and throughout my life, we have been democratic in terms of politics. I have four other siblings and all of us have or are attending college. We find education very important and with raising tuitions, this is one of my main concerns. Republicans would have tuition increased while Barack would frankly try to do the opposite and this is another reason he has my vote. I do not understand why, tuitions being as high as they are now would have to be increased. Especially when one of the primary focuses of our nation is to educate the people. Mitt Romney and other republicans blatantly ignore the fact that not everyone can afford higher education although we as a nation promote it should be something every American has. I can’t support or even begin to allow such groups who come off as selfish so often.…
