In recent times, many cases of police brutality, as well as racial profiling have been brought to light. As a result, many officers and law enforcement officials are not trusted by citizens today and some police officers have allowed a negative image to manifest. They have far too much power over anyone else, and any average person can become a police officer. These officers are not trusted because of the history that some have had and continue to create. There is no easy solution to this issue, but we as a community have a lot of power for change so we should try to find one. I have come to a conclusion that it is clear that police behaviour now has to be monitored. An effective way to monitor police behaviour, and therefore prevent violence, is to make it so that an officer has to wear a police body camera whilst

In a situation where someone is killed by the police, there is usually only one side to the conflict. Of course the majority is going to believe the officer if they are the only one able to say anything about the matter. If the officer’s camera shows a recording of an incident, the truth would be clear and so no one would be wrongly blamed. If in that situation the police officer really has no other option than to use their gun, the public will not ignore that and they would not be falsely criticised for it. Although there may be some minor flaws to the idea of monitoring both bad and good officers, it is a fact that some form of surveillance is needed. People say that this would be an invasion of privacy, but the cameras would only be expected to be worn in public places. If there is something that you would do in a public place with plenty of other people around, why would you not do it on camera? Body cameras are the most logical response to a problem that continues to only get bigger and bigger in the eyes of
