Pokegirl: A Short Story
A sparse crowd of beginners had gathered around the scene in awe of the exotic Ninetales and the spunky Charmander that had challenged it, some of the spectators the villagers that knew of Fei and Adam's situation. The Ninetales had to admit that being watched only spiked her adrenaline, igniting the familiar burst of energy she had felt before any promising battle. This battle, as Adam had already pointed out, wasn't worth their time, but it was still a significant milestone for Adam who hadn't actively participated in any duels since his early retirement. There was a brief pause between Kyle returning his Charmander to her PokeBall and Fei lowering her guard until the younger tamer came running up to the victorious pair. "How'd you do that!" the boy exclaimed. "That move, Inferno. Can you teach my Charmander?" His eyes were twinkling with curiosity fit for his age, his first loss on the battlefield not even seeming to faze his pride any. "That was amazing, I think I'll get a Ninetales one day!" The boy was so overcome with excitement that he reached out to grasp one of Fei's fluffy tails, with only the purest intentions to touch something he greatly

Upon Fionine’s arrival the feelings were one of excitement and uncertainty. We (the Crumpton family) had never had a Fionine or anything like her (except for the rabbits, but those stayed outside all the time so they do not really count). For the first few weeks of Fionine’s precious life were spent sleeping and being passed from person to person. Fionine soon expressed her love of attention by always wanting to be in the center of everyone. Fionine absolutely loves people and does not know any strangers. Fionine does not make a very good watchdog because of her love for people. Fionine also loves to be flipped on her back and her belly to be rubbed just like a baby. Fionine also enjoys to chase tennis balls around the back yard and to swim in the pool. Fionine spends most of her time on her “perch” (the back of the couch) and supervises the day-to-day activities that surround her. Fionine’s goal in life is to finally catch one of the many squirrels that occupy my backyard. She has yet to achieve this highly prestigious goal, but this is not to say that one day even Fionine’s dream can come true.…

His hand felt the cool metal of the doorknob. He heard it click as it was turned as if the silence of the arena wasn't already enough to make the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He wasn't nervous, no. As he gently pulled on the cloth-silenced door, he merely wondered what fate the princess chose for him. A swift death at the claws of an angry tiger, of a life of misery with a woman (as far as he knew) he did not know, and did not love.…
