CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Technology has almost reached its peak of progression. As society grows in both size and complexity, the need for data processing system continue to increase. Experts have formulated several systems however; they still seek for the betterment and advancement of created programs. The products of these creations are reflected in almost every part of the world, particularly in the market or industrial establishments. Technology, especially computer system plays a big role in the enhancement and expansion of knowledge, by providing access to countless population without limitations by space and time. It also lessens the burden of administrative workers for it makes one operation faster and precise. Consequently, computerization of every business transactions is the key to have a consistent and hassle flow of business transactions. In the market, business or any establishment, automation and computerization of a certain operation is one of the most essential ways to have a progressive business transaction. With the aid of computers and internet, its gives an advance potential towards the possibility of computer systems in becoming one of the best marketing tools for reaching out possible number of clients who are totally equipped with such technology. Since nowadays, people are much dependent on computer systems, therefore the researchers have assume and make it as one of the good reasons to design and create Point of Sales System. Point of Sales System will manage the overall transaction of the store and will provide efficient, flexible and reliable information. This system will aim to enhance the business process of the establishment to have a fast customer service; furthermore, it will lessen the tedious task encountered by almost all of the administrative workers. A grocery store is a store established primarily for the retailing of food. A grocer, the owner of the grocery store, stocks different kinds of foods from assorted places and cultures, and sells them to customers. Almost all business establishments have grocery store of their own but the process computing sales and monitory of products are still done manually. It is essential for groceries to have proper monitoring of products, accurate computing of sales and efficient costumer service. With the impact of application and system operations, it enhances the accuracy and security of data that consequently provides the advanced transaction conducted in the grocery store. This paper presents the design of a computerized Point of Sales for Hibubullao Cooperative Mart that will lessen the tedious task of the administrator in monitoring products, computing of sales and generating reports. It will develop an accurate procedure in updating the records and develop an appropriate database for the security of products and all the information. In gathering the information data, a descriptive survey method was used with the use of questioners as the main tool. Thus, the proposed Point of Sales is a big help in the betterment of the establishment an all transaction in the store. The system consists of barcode reader, programming tools like Visual basic 6.0, MySQL database in designing the program. Like any other system, this system also provides a higher level of data security than the existing system of the store, wherein manual process of data is difficult to retrieve.
