What is
Poaching?

Poaching is illegal hunting of animals . It is killing animals out of season, capturing endangered animals and selling them for money.

Why do people poach?
People poach for items that are caught out of season or illegally that can be sold for a lot of money. The gall bladder on one bear can be sold for
$18,000 dollars in Asia.

Animals mostly poached
Elephants, Rhinos and bears are the most poached animal. Commercial poachers also hunt zebra, cheetah, lion , tiger and leopard for their skins.

Tiger poaching
The wild tiger is one of the most threatened species on the planet. Poachers illegally hunt and kill the tigers because of their fur, bones, whiskers and other body parts are sold in the black market for a lot of money. Poaching is particularly prevalent in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West
Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,
Kerala, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Assam.

Indian rhinos, also known as the great one-horned rhinos, are the world's largest rhino species and the fifth biggest land animal.

Rhinos have very poor eyesight and they cannot see stationery objects even just a few meters away from them. Their hearing is however very acute and they also rely mainly on their welldeveloped senses of smell to warn them of approaching danger.
