Theodore Roosevelt Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City. He is the son of Theodore Roosevelt Sr. and Martha (Mittie) Bulloch Roosevelt. He was tutored privately, he graduated from Harvard in 1880 and entered Law school that same year but did not complete his degree. He was Dutch reformed, though at various points he was affiliated with Episcopal congregations. Married Alice Hathaway Lee on October 27, 1880 on his 22nd Birthday, They had one child, 2 years after her child was born his wife Alice pasted away. He then married his childhood friend, Edith Kermit Carow. They had 5 children together. Before Roosevelt became the Vice President of the United States, he was the Governor of New York. President Mckinley was president at the time but then he got assassinated, so making Roosevelt president at the age of 42, which made him the youngest president in our presidency history. Roosevelt was the most energetic man ever to fill the office, that’s what made him so good and a liking president. Roosevelt pushed through legislation industry that gave the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) new powers to set railroads rates laying the foundation for the modern administrative state. HE convinced that a strong defense was the best guarantee of peace; he built up the navy and sent it around the world. He pushed executive powers to new limits, arguing that the rise of industrial capitalism had rendered limited government was so obsolete. ."     Theodore Roosevelt Jr., son of Theodore Roosevelt Sr. and Martha Bulloch Roosevelt, was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City. HE was born into an old rich, Dutch aristocratic family and the second child of four. Theodore suffered from bronchial asthma through his childhood. Theodore’s nick mane as a child was Teedie. He was a spindly little boy, had large teeth, light hair, and blue eyes. During the Civil War his father believed in the Union and his mother believed in the Confederates because her family owned slaves. His Aunt Anna always told tales of the Bulloch family’s brave military role in the Revolution. Teedie mostly sided with his father.     Theodore Roosevelt, often known as the “trustbuster”, believed that there were good trusts and evil trusts. Due to his commitment to mend relations between capital and labor, he strived to take power away from only the evil and greedy corporations. In 1902, Roosevelt achieved his first acclaimed trust bust with the attack on a railroad holding company known as the Northern Securities. James J. Hill and J.P Morgan, the organizers of the Northern Securities, had attempted to create a monopoly of the railroads in the Northwest but were shot down in 1904 when the Supreme Court prosecuted Hill and Morgan for violating the Sherman Anti-trust Act.
