Pluto Planet
Pluto: The Title of Planet Must be Given Back Voting done at the International Astronomical Union convention about pluto's status of being a planet was a harsh new reality, with the majority voting for pluto's demotion. Professor Alan Stern, chief scientist for the New Horizon mission set for learning more about pluto, called the outcome "an awful decision" and described the new definition as "internally inconsistent" ("Why Is Pluto No Longer a Planet?"). The debate of pluto being a planet has started since pluto first became a planet in 1930. So far the have not the best of jobs with classification of planets. The three main “rules” that the IAU has are that it must be in the orbit of the sun, have a sufficient mass for its planetary gravitational pull to overcome rigid body forces so that it still has a nearly round shape, and has cleared the neighborhood about it’s orbit ("Why Is Pluto No Longer a Planet?"). One issue of these classifications the IAU failed to specify precisely what was meant by an object's clearing the neighborhood around its orbit ("Pluto Demoted (Special Report)"). These classification have proved to be very confusing. When looking into their “rules” they basically are saying do be do be do. Because saying a planet must be round by its own planetary gravity is a part of its being. Saying it must have cleared its orbital neighborhood, when it was not clearly defined by the IAU is a part of its doing. There’s also a rule that a planet must too big that way it does not start nuclear fusion, because then it would be a star, that’s part of its being. And furthermore, the IAU says a planet must orbit a star or orbiting another planet, that’s more of its doing ("Nine Reasons Why Pluto Is a Planet - Philip Metzger"). Lastly another issue with these so called “rules” is that a planet clearing a orbit depends on the star, not just the planet. Especially with the newly found information from NASA space mission. For these reasons and much more pluto should be considered a planet with the overwhelming data, the illiterate classifications for planets, and overall lack of information given about pluto. If we do however overturn the idea that pluto is a dwarf planet this would lead a whole new world of discovery and maturing of the notion that our universe is ever changing. After all we only know so much about our universe.
