The purpose of this unit is to enable the learner to understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher in the lifelong learning and the relationship between different professionals in lifelong learning. It includes responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for learners.

The CAD/Drafting specification is BS8888, this replaced BS308 in 2000 which was a code of practice. The new BS8888 is a specification which provides a route map to over 130 different ISO standards, all relating to the CAD/Drafting/Engineering industry.
When I the deliver the CAD unit, I constantly make reference to this standard, my learners cover these standards at every stage of the drawing process. I suggest to all my learners to purchase a copy of the Mechanical Engineering drawing 4th edition book or at least download their own 2nd edition pdf copy for their own use, this gives comprehensive information on all areas of mechanical drawing and it encompasses the current standards.
Other legislation which I cover in my teaching role is 1. Health and Safety 2. Equality and Diversity 3. Data Protection 4. Human Rights 5. Freedom of Information Act
Health and Safety When my learners first start on the section I go through the section induction, this includes signing a computer user agreement, I ensure all my learners watch a Youtube video (http://www.explainingcomputers.com/dse.html), this video covers sitting correctly, positioning of the monitor screen and making sure that their chair is adjusted correctly. Health &Safety posters are displayed in the CAD room that show the correct
