On September 18th 1892, the Pledge of allegiance was published for the first time in a magazine, called “ The Youth’s Companion.” It was written to celebrate the 400th year anniversary of the discovery of America. All of a sudden we can longer say “ Merry Christmas” in schools. When I was growing up we had the right to enjoy Christmas as a child and say, “Merry Christmas”. Now you have to say “ Happy Holidays” instead.
