Anne Frank VS. Modern Teenage Girls
Typically people in the 1930’s are way different than people in 2016. Although that might be true for a lot of people for history, it’s not true with Anne frank. Anne Frank has characteristics of a teenage girl because she’s loud and hopeful, she’s stubborn about telling her mother things, and she’s shallow about her love for Peter.
Anne Frank shows a characteristic of a teenage girl when she’s loud and tries to be hopeful. Being loud and hopeful isn’t always a bad thing in Anne’s situation. She desires to put a positive feeling into a horrible situation. In the play Anne states, “I only want some fun… After you’ve sat still all day and hardly moved, you’ve got to have some fun.” (Goodrich and Hackett 382). Anne was fortunate to be hiding with her family instead of being in a concentration camp like her friends, so she’s trying to make the best of it. Teenage girls are just like Anne in situations like these. For example, Abby Seese quoted, “Entertaining people, and making people smile is really special to me… If you’re optimistic and happy then it’s going to rub off on people.”(Seese). In this case, Anne’s bubbly personality will turn the situation they’re in into the right direction. “Peter, did you ever kiss a girl?... Was she pretty?” (Goodrich and Hackett 422). Anne is obviously trying to give Peter some hints that she loves him, just like all teenage girls would do. She doesn't just want to just tell Peter that she loves him in case he doesn't feel the same way. A research shows that only 21% of teenagers explain how they feel to the ones they like/love (Anderson). Girls never have any idea if the love is mutual or if it is just a one way kind of love, that’s why it scares
