Pitbull Behavior
Ember was a rescue who belonged to the Daniels family. One evening while Tre, the son of Mrs. Daniels, was taking a bath he had a seizer and started to drown. Ember gained the attention of Mrs. Daniels and led her to the bathroom, therefore saving the 10 year old boy’s life. When hearing this story you probably pictured a family dog, a Labrador or Cocker Spaniel but Ember was a Pit bull, this is just one example of how Pit bulls are very loyal and good pets. Pit bulls behavior is not caused by genes, but rather how they are treated. It’s been proven Pit bulls are potentially the same as any other breed, however, when you adopt a bigger, stockier breed that strength is sometimes abused. In the early 1900’s Pit breeds were seen as the “Children’s Nursemaid” and their role in the family was to watch the small children while everyone able worked in the fields. As the years go on Pit bulls became more icon in a positive manner, in WWl the first decorated canine hero was a Pit named Sergeant Stubby whom was a guest to the White House. Many respected figures in history had Pit breeds including Presidents Woodrow and Roosevelt. Unfortunately in England they used Pit bulls to subdue bulls by biting them on the nose so humans could then gain control again, when this was banned people started using Pit bulls as fighting

Natalie Lima, an animals rights advocate created a whole novel about how the Breed- specific legislation ban creates more issues including the state losing money, the shelters being packed, bite rate not going down, and people would move on to a different “fighting breed”. The other main issue of banning Pit bulls is that dog fighting is presently illegal yet it still happens, therefore, it would pull Pit breeds away from loving family homes and put them in dangerous homes that will abuse their
