Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND IS BACKGROUND

Introduction

The fast paced development of technology changed everyone’s life. The turnover had been remarkable - better hardware and software are available almost every week. The development plays an essential role in developing the integral skills of certain individuals. Computer-based systems are involved to reduce tedious tasks such as evaluating, measuring and recording. Manual computation is very prompt to risk for any circumstances. It is time consuming in terms of computing and recording grades. If some records are lost, they never retrieve it in case of unexpected calamity.(Hirscheein,2003) Automation is the automatic transfer and positioning of work by machines, or the automatic operation and control of a work process by machines, without significant human intervention or operation, in order to improve performance. Computer software and hardware play an important role in automation systems. Computers control and manage the automation of both physical tasks and analytical tasks. Grading System is designed to provide incentive reward for achievement and assist in identifying problems of the student. Grading System is the most commonly used in computing and analyzing the performance, talent and skills of students it is the important record to keep even for the longest time for the referral and credentials of the students.

Background of the study The Pila Central Elementary school is a public of school located at Pila Laguna, fifty (51) teachers from Pila Cental Elmentary School, five (5) from them are male and thirty six (36) are female, eight (8) from them are class adviser of Grade 1-2, Seven teachers are class adviser of grade 3-4, six (6) are class adviser of grade 5-6, six (6) is a class adviser of kinder while two of the teachers with a special assignments. The school obtain additional funding sources include the school canteen operation, donation from alumni and the Parents

    The letter-grade GPA system is based on the fact that we all find it convenient to lump things, including people (perhaps especially people), into categories. Thus, "A" work is excellent or superior, "B" good or solid, "C" average or mediocre, "D" bad and below average, and "F" poor and failing. Letter grades are determined by conversion of numerical percentages from exams and other work. The "Grade Point Average" or GPA or overview of student performance derives from averaging these grades weighted according to the credit hours involved.     Grade system follows the philosophy that all students of a grade are equally intelligent. In Mark System , the philosophy followed is that the students who score more are superior or intelligent. The Mark system is a more competitive system in which students get to know their exact scores while in the grading system the marks are divided into many ranges. In the Mark system, a student can surpass another student by fraction of a mark . Here students work harder even for that single mark. This promotes competition effectively but at the same time it demotes ,the value of gaining knowledge instead of just getting good marks, greatly .
