Pickup trucks like the Chevrolet K2500 will always be loved. No matter how many new models of cars arrived, pickup trucks are here to stay. So, how do we show our appreciation for these trucks? By regular maintenance of course. This is the only way we can prolong their usefulness and at the same time it’s our way of lowering down untimely repair cost. Pickup trucks are like vehicles of burden, they go through a lot of punishment on the road, so it’s no wonder that their engines are easily broken. Here are the ways on how to maintain the engine of your pickup truck:
*Check the Belts
The belts found at the front of the engine are all made from rubber making them vulnerable to extreme conditions. To check the level of oil, park your car on level ground and let the engine cool down. Why do you need to let the engine cool down? To avoid erroneous reading. When the engine is still hot there is an approximately half a liter of oil trapped in the passages of the engine, it takes a while to drain back to the crankcase. After the engine has cool down, search for the dipstick. Pull it out, then wipe it clean before pushing it all the way back in. After a minute, pull it out again, and check the oil level. The ideal oil level should read between the high and the low marks denoted by dots.
