Physical Education: Rules of Badminton
Rules of Badminton * TossThe rules of badminton states that a toss shall be conducted before a game starts. If you win, you can choose between serving first or to start play at either end of the court. Your opponent can then exercise the remaining choice.

* Scoring systemThe rules of badminton states that a badminton match shall consist of the best of 3 games. In doubles and men's singles, the first side to score 15 points wins the game. In women's singles, the first side to score 11 points wins the game.

If the score becomes 14-all (10-all in women's singles), the side which first scored 14 (10) shall exercise the choice to continue the game to 15 (11) points or to 'set' the game to 17 (13) points.

The side winning a game serves first in the next game. Only the serving side can add a point to its score.

Recently BWF have been testing a new scoring format of 21 points per game on all major Badminton competition and decided to replace the old format permanently.

* Change of endsThe rules of badminton states that you have to change ends with your opponent after finishing the first game. If a third game was to be played, you shall change ends when the leading score reaches 6 in a game of 11 points or 8 in a game of 15 points.

Rules of Badminton - Singles * Serving and receiving courtsYou shall serve from, and receive in, the right service court when you or your opponent has scored an even number of points in that game.

You shall serve from, and receive in, the left service court when you or your opponent has scored an odd number of points in that game.

You and your opponent will hit the shuttle alternately until a 'fault' is made or the shuttle ceases to be in play.

* Scoring and servingYou score a point and serve again from the alternate service court when your opponent makes a 'fault' or the shuttle ceases to be in play because it touches the surface of your opponent's side of court.

Overview: Basketball is a team sport consisting of two teams of five players each trying to score by advancing the ball up the court by dribbling or passing and then shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The game starts at the middle of the court and is called the tip off. The referee tosses the ball in the air in between two players (one from each team), and the players try to tip it to one of their teammates who are circled around them. The team that wins the tip off will get the ball to start the 3rd quarter, and the opposing team will get the ball to start the 2nd and 4th quarters. The game is split into quarters, each quarter lasting 8 minutes. The court is divided into two main sections by the mid-court line. If the offensive team puts the ball into play behind the mid-court line (half court), it has ten seconds to get the ball over the mid-court line. If it doesn't, then the defense gets the ball. Once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid-court line, it can no longer have possession of the ball in the area in back of the line. If it does, the defense is awarded the ball. Each shot made is worth two points, unless the shooter is behind the three point line, then they are awarded three points. When a player is fouled in the act of shooting, he will go to the free throw line to shoot free throws. If the player made the shot and gets fouled, the shot counts and he is awarded one free throw attempt. If he misses the shot while fouled, he gets two free throw attempts unless he was shooting outside the three point line, then he is awarded three attempts. Each free throw made counts as one point for the offensive team. After a foul or a made shot, the opposing team gains possession of the ball and has five seconds to pass it in from out of bounds. After a jump ball the team with the possession arrow will…

It has been a part of the official program of the summer Olympic Games since 1964. There are different versions available for specific circumstances in order to offer the versatility of the game to everyone. The team has three hits for returning the ball (in addition to the block contact). The ball is put in play with a service: hit by the server over the net to the opponents. The rally continues until the ball is grounded on the playing court, goes "out" or a team fails to return it properly. In Volleyball, the team winning a rally scores a point (Rally Point System). When the receiving team wins a rally, it gains a point and the right to serve, and its players rotate one position clockwise.…

When the game was first created there weren't really any rules on how the game was supposed to be played, now there are rules that players must obey. Those rules have changed over the years, though the basics have stayed relatively the same. For example, when playing there is a certain number of players allowed on each team that can be playing at once. And when a player is eliminated from the game, he is only able rejoin the game if it doesn't exceed the number of players allowed on the court at one time. Also, when players reenter the game, they must do so in the same order that they were eliminated in.…

    Cricket vs. Baseball

Cricket is a little bit different seeing as you have two batters at the same time. There are two sets of wickets if the batter hits the ball he then runs to the other set of wickets to score a point he can do this multiple times if he hits it far enough. If the ball hits the “boundary” the player gets four points, and if he hits it over the “boundary” he gets six points. In order to switch sides the opposing team must get ten of the batters out. Ways to get a batter out is to knock over the set of wickets behind him, catch the ball he hits, he can also be “stumped” witch is when the batter steps too far forward and misses the ball and the keeper catches it and the knocks over the wicket, or a LBW witch is a leg before wicket. The LBW is where the ball hits the batters leg pads and the umpire figures it would have hit the wicket if it didn’t hit the pads.…

    How to Play Basketball

    • 418 Words
    • 2 Pages

In basketball the goal is to score more baskets than the other team. Five people from each team are on the court at all times. Even if a player commits a foul, they stay on the court. Every time you have the ball, you have three options. You can pass, dribble, or shoot. Sometimes shooting is not your best option because you may be too far away from the basket or there are people guarding you. Dribbling the ball is by bouncing in on the ground with one hand only. If both hands touch the ball, that is a double dribble. A basketball game starts off with a jump ball. Usually the tallest player on the team or the best jumper does this. The ref throws up the ball at center court in front of one player from both teams. The players jump and try to hit the ball to their team. The basket your player is facing during the jump ball is the basket you will be shooting at during the game. Now you have the ball. The wide half circle around the basket is the three point line. If you shoot the ball behind that arc you get three points. If you are inside the arc you get two points. If you are shooting and an opponent hits your arm that is a foul. You get to shoot from the foul line which is the line parallel to the basket with the small half circle on the top. Each shot you make from there is worth one point. If you stop dribbling and you take more than two steps, you may be called for traveling and the other team gets the ball. If you go out of bounds the other team gets the ball also. When you do not have the ball you are on defense. Stay in front of the man you are guarding and keep your hands up to avoid them from shooting the ball, since the less they score the better chance you…

The first movement is to bend at the knees and hips to load the weight of the body onto the balls of the feet. While the knees and hips bend, the non-dominant arm tosses the ball straight up and the dominant serving arm is cocked back into position.…
