Mead & Hampson (1996) developed a study involving the divided visual field paradigm and a phonological rhyme/non-rhyme task to test the speed and accurateness of either side of the brain. This study was used to investigate functional asymmetry between the left and right hemispheres in phonological processing. The research was taken out equally on 15 male and 15 females London Metropolitan University students ranging from ages 18 – 35 years old. They were all specifically chosen to be right–handed and had English as their first language thus providing a fair experiment to see whether our left hemisphere (left side of the brain) or the right hemisphere is faster and more accurate. In conclusion using the mean and standard deviation to determine our hypothesis, it was calculated that the left hemisphere had a higher mean and standard deviation score compared to the right hemisphere.…

Heat capacity of a body is the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of the body by 1oC. The specific heat of a substance is the heat capacity per unit mass. Thus, heat capacity = mass x specific heat. The specific heat is essentially a measure of how thermally insensitive a substance is to the addition of energy. Heat and temperature are really different quantities. Heat is a quantity of thermal energy, while temperature determines the direction and rate of heat transfer to the surroundings. It is possible for an object to have a very high temperature but contain very little heat and vice versa (physics 312).…

    2. With the thread taut and the bob at rest, the bob is lifted at a small amplitude (of not more than 10°). Ensure that the pendulum swings in a single plane. 3. The time for ten complete oscillations of the pendulum is measured using the stopwatch. 4. Step 3 is repeated, and the average of both readings are calculated. 5. The period of oscillation, T is calculated using the average reading divided by the number of oscillations, i.e. 10. 6. T2 is calculated by squaring the value of T. 7. Steps 1 to 6 are repeated using l = 70 cm, 60 cm, 50 cm, and 40 cm. 8. A graph T2 versus l is plotted. Recording of data: Length of pendulum, l (cm) 80 70 60 50 40 Graph of T2 vs l T2 Time of oscillations, t (s) t2 Average Period of oscillation, T T = t/10 (s) T2 (s2)…
