The mineral that I chose for his week’s assignment is phosphorus. Phosphorus is the second most ample mineral that is found in the human body. It flows all throughout the body, but more than 80% combines with calcium. The 80% that combines with the calcium is used for our bones and teeth. Phosphorus plays many major roles in our bodies. One of the roles that it has is that it is part of the DNA and RNA of every cell in the body. This is why phosphorus is important for growth and renewal of our tissues. Another role that is plays is to help maintain acid-base balance of cellular fluids. Phosphorus helps to carry, store, and release energy in the metabolism.
