Pharmacist Personal Statement
Pharmacy is an area of study that allows one to improve the health of others. The practice of pharmacy improves health within communities by educating patients on their health concerns and promoting healthy choices. Pharmacists have credible knowledge to analyze important health aspects for patients. My determination to achieve a Doctor of Pharmacy degree relates to the passion I have grown for pharmacy. When I began my undergraduate studies, chemistry was not the easiest subject for me. It took me a while to develop confidence in college to stay motivated, but I focused and pushed through it every day. When I see this it not only makes patients feel better, but me too. I aspire to become a Pharmacist where patients are happy to receive their medication from me. My mother is a pharmacist, this is especially important to me. Throughout my life, I have been able to ask my mother about health-care questions or concerns. Seeing how passionate my mother is about her work, and how dedicated she is with her patients, makes me want to fill those shoes in the future. She has allowed me to have the understanding and ability to know how impactful pharmacy is on people’s lives. It was not until I started working at CVS pharmacy that I knew how lucky I was that my mom was a pharmacist. My mother, being a part of the health care system, is able to understand symptoms and recommend medications that do not need a prescription. Pharmacists take extreme responsibility in understanding what medications their patients need and that no complications occur in the future. Pharmacists need their patients to trust them and I know I could provide this trust to my patients one day.
Working within the pharmacy has taught me a great amount and I know there is much more for me to learn. I know that becoming a Pharmacist is hard work, but I am willing to work for it. The opportunity to achieve a Doctor of Pharmacy degree brings me excitement to learn more. With my commitment toward pharmacy and by working hard, I know I will achieve my dream of becoming a Pharmacist.
