Peter Skott Analysis
I am living in the small house situated at khati baba which was gifted by Major Peter Skott an Anglo Indian. Major Skott had very sad story to describe which mesmerize the real picture of that pre independent time during 1962. Major Skott had two sons who left India when they were offered good job in England.
The government of England had offered special package to the Anglo Indians who wanted to come back to England so his two sons settled back to London. He with his wife Joyce stayed back in Jhansi after the retirement from the Indian army. His forefather came from England on the special service to guide and train the Indian soldiers. When World war ended in 1945, to honour his father’s courage the Britishers gave 10 acres of big land and also gave their special office which was constructed in the centre of the land during the World War II. His house was very big built which was actually an office of Britishers during the War II surrounded by green beautiful garden and long big trees all over the land. Now this area is in a prime location of the city. People have built their houses near this area and many daily need shops like grocery, tailor, carpenter etc. also came up. This area became most expensive area of this city and elite people were more attracted to occupy land for their homes. His son Peter also joined the Indian army because he loved to be an Army man and he thought that his family has served this nation for so long. He was born and brought up here so this was his mother land so why not he should join the Army. The neighbours who knew very well that he was in army and posted out of Jhansi, they annexed most part of the land with the help of corrupt Land officials with false documents and land officers help the land mafia in grabbing his land. There were many against the Anglo Indians but the fact was that Anglo Indians love this country and want to spend here whole life till death. He had fond memoirs of this house. His two sons were born here and he spent his entire life with his wife in this house. When his sons were going to England they tried to convince Peter to come with them to England but he did not listen them. He was so emotionally attached with this house that he would often cry and weep after every drinking session. Loneliness and pain of isolation after departure of his sons made him look very sickely and frail much older than his age. He would walked slowly with a stick now. Peter was a heart patient and used to take medical treatment regularly for his heart problem. Darshan Gupta knew everything so in the beginning Gupta shared the expenditure but slowly stoped paying the amount for alcohol and other expenditure. Peter was also fond of fishing, hunting and barbeque. He was also surrounded by herds of sychophant and he visited dam and forest for hunting and finally the barbeque and late night party with them. Peter almost every day spent money more than his pocket allowed. Peter not only became alcoholic and fond of partying daily but had increased his expenditure. The day came when Peter realized that he has left with no money and his savings were almost finished. He told Darshan about this, Darshan went on paying. Peter did not stop partying with Darshan, the party must go on. One day Gupta showed the credit amount to Peter whom he paid for the alcohol and
