Pet Peeve
Annoying Ways People Use Their Phones How many times have you sat next to a person who just has to mutter their email, text message, or conversation on the phone? So you're just sitting there, playing Angry Birds on your phone and the next thing you hear is a secretary texting her boss. Not only is it the click click click, but if she's mumbling it, it’s even worse. Or some one talking on their phone as loud as they can? Isn't the last thing you what to hear in a quiet room someone talking on the phone? Yep, me too. This is what I mean. You are sitting in an airport and it is quiet. Then someone’s phone rings as loud as it possibly can and they pick it up and it’s their boyfriend. Yes, the one person that they laugh at after every sentence and they just laugh as loud as they can every time. How about someone texting for for hours? Click click click all afternoon when your sister is texting her best friend all the time in the long car ride home from Cape Cod. And every time she gets a text, ding ding goes her phone. Every. Single. Minute. And some traffic on I-95 slows down the trip and it's now midnight and you're feeling a little tired. You put your head down, close your eyes and click click click. It just makes me want to throw that phone out the window. And then there are people muttering every sentence they type. For example, you're on a train to New York. You sit down and the lady in back is sending an email and mumbles the words. You hear, “Okay boss. I'll have it in by Monday.” The whole three hours you have to hear people mumbling the words they type. You feel like you are going to die. So if you are every one of these people, PLEASE think about the people around you. No one likes that guy, including yourself. So me and the rest of the world ask that you please, STOP USING YOUR PHONE IN PUBLIC LIKE THAT!

In the beginning phones were used to get in touch with a person when in need. Today that has changed drastically. The social manner of phone use has changed. If someone didn't answer their phone years ago that simply meant they weren't home. Today it is automatically assumed that if an individual hasn't picked up their phone, he or she is ignoring you, giving no personal boundaries between people. Today everyone is connected all the time. People have no time for themselves and no time to de-connect from society. It seems as though humans forgot how to take some time off and actually relax.…

PETER: [(Sneering, mimicking.)"I need to check my voice mail"] I don't believe it. It's four in the morning, we're in the middle of a lake, gazillion miles from Nowhere Street and Nothing Boulevard and I still can't get away from people with those friggin' phones. (Muttering and mocking) "I need to check my voice-mail." (Sighs) I am getting so sick of hearing people say that. What is it with everybody these days and their stupid beepers and pagers and voice-mail and e-mail. And people get all stuck on the roof if their wife never replied a text, so their sittin’ their wondering, my wife could be in trouble. The next thing you know it, they calls the SWAT team over to his house. You got somethin' to say? Wait until the next time you're in the bloody room with the person and say it. (Mimic) [Of course, everyone always says they just "can’t afford to be out of touch that long."] (Frustrated) And you know, I might buy that argument if we were talking about a world leader, or a surgeon who saved someone’s bloody life, or even – I don't know – a volunteer fire-fighter whose on-call for some kitten stuck in a tree or something. (Clutches head, pauses, and finally says) But we're not. It's always some stupid, snotty teenager who just has to take a phone call in the middle of the movie at the movie theater just to text his girlfriend “I hope your dentist appointment goes well”. Or it's the stupid blonde bimbo who's always sitting ahead of you at the stoplight – (getting angry) smacking her friggin' bubble-gum inside her mouth and twirling her hair or doing her make-up – gossiping-away with some other airhead even though the bloody light's been green for almost a minute. OR… (Starts making huge hand gestures) it's some idiot, nerd, moron who…

    Cons of Texting

Technology has came a long way and will continue to improve and explore unknown territories. One of the new things discovered is texting and while texting is helpful it has a lot of disadvantages and downfalls. If texting could be listed as a skill, many of my friends would qualify as highly skilled in that area. I am glued to my phone and always texting so I know firsthand just how much texting can be abused and its less than helpful qualities. Texting kills some good old fashioned phone call conversations, face time, and is making annoying phrases part of everyday talking; texting is an obsession for many people and is doing more damage than most people know by damaging people’s people skills.…

Everywhere you go, hospitals, theatres, classrooms, libraries, sporting events, etc you usually see a sign that says no cell phones allowed. Yet it never fails to see someone in class texting while they think no one is looking, or hear a phone ring during a quiet part in a movie theatre. It’s annoying. Whatever happened to the days when people were not available every second of every day? I think people who constantly have the phone glued to their ear or fingers so strong they could win an Olympic event in texting are very wrapped up in the world around them that they don’t take time to enjoy it. They are always on the go, always working, and are high strung highly stressed and as a result probably have high blood pressure.…

Chewing with your mouth open also makes you look like you belong in a barn with animals.…

Cell phones are becoming an integral part of our daily lives. It is no surprise that a ground breaking study just released says mobile technology has permanently changed the way we work, live, and love. Commissioned by Motorola, this new behavioral study took researchers to nine cities worldwide from New York to London. Using a combination of personal interviews, field studies, and observation, the study identified a variety of behaviors that demonstrate the dramatic impact cell phones are having on the way people interact.…

The cellphone is a big invention at this time; people can use cellphones for many purposes besides talking with others. My pet peeve is about people who use a cellphone where or when it is not supposed to be used because it is very rude and disrespectful. I used to work as a cashier, and many customers, while they were paying for their purchases, were talking on the phone. They did not pay attention to the total amount they needed to pay and kept asking the cashier about the total. That kind of situation is unfair for people who are waiting in the line to wait longer. Some people think that as customers, they can do whatever they like.…

People often use improper grammar while texting to send a message more quickly, but some argue that this affects their writing skills. Employers say that people who grow up texting rarely know how to change their tone to fit who they are texting. They do not know how to communicate with superiors in business. Some people also argue that talking is better because texting can cause impatience and hostility because people generally expect instant responses. Often, people text at inconvenient moments and expect to get an answer quickly, simply because of the restlessness that texting can…
