Persuasive Speech On Legalizing Marijuana
Thank you for your service to our state, and your service to the city of Monroe. Our small town of Monroe is steadily growing, and with your leadership it will be led in the right direction. I pray for your influence in our city, as well as your influence in and among the capital and your fellow senators. Once again I will be returning to Teen Pact for my third time, as an alumni student.
With the Presidential election recently ended, there is still much debate on highly controversial issues throughout our country. A large issue that draws much attention from young adults is the legalization of marijuana. But soon medical will be turned into recreational. Personally, I have nothing against medical marijuana as long as it is used in moderation and monitored. However, I am strongly against the use of recreational marijuana do to its numerous and possible catastrophic side effects. For example, side effects may contain, altered senses, dizziness, tiredness, fatigue, reduced coordination and balance, anxiety, panic, paranoia, hallucinations, mood alterations, altered blood pressure, dizziness, increased heart rate, flushing, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, tooth discoloration, increased appetite, skin rash, dry eyes, blurred vision, cough, and sore throat. Before the legalization of medical or recreational marijuana, only ten percent of Americans regularly smoke marijuana. Now with marijuana being readily and abundantly available, that percentage will increase. At this moment only four states have legalized it for recreational activity. But five more were up for ballot last year, and if all five of those states pass the ballot; the percentage will grow even
