Studies show that The law requires all prescribing physicians to submit information about patients who request assistance, which the Oregon Department of Human Services publishes yearly. Between 1998 and 2010, 525 patients died by lethal prescription—usually a high dose of a short-acting barbiturate. In the first decade of the law, the median age of decedents was 70 years; 54 percent were men, 82 percent were terminally ill with cancer, and 86 percent were enrolled in home hospice. Now that is a problem, People do not give scientists enough time to make cures to save people, now let's go ahead and i'll show you how bad assisted suicide really is, Here is an example of the problem of assisted suicide, let's say there is a person with cancer and they get assisted suicide and a week later after the person did assisted suicide there's a cure for cancer.     Most people would agree that the right of a competent, terminally ill person to avoid any unnecessary excruciating pain seems as though it should be a basic human right. To have someone go through more suffering than absolutely necessary seems as though it would fall under the description of an inhumane act, and frankly an injustice against the basic human right of bodily autonomy and integrity. Due to these almost undeniable arguments, physician assisted suicide, in many cases, is seen as a basic human right that we need to be granted access to.
