Did you know that 4.4 million workers who earn the minimum wage or less have a college degree? Minimum wage is a difficult place to be in life, but it's a better place to be than unemployed. And as a result, when you do achieve a job that is minimum wage you should do the very best you can to keep an incredibly tight budget. I was at a friend’s house a few nights ago for a small get together and she mentioned that she used to live with her dad in Texas for awhile because it was a place where she could do a lot of the things she enjoyed for free and a lot of people didn't really focus on career paths. She then also mentioned that she loved her job working at Pathways and would be content living on minimum wage because it wouldn’t affect her lifestyle much… besides becoming slightly infatuated. …show more content…
the current minimum wage rate is $7.25. In a given year full time workers put in approximately 2,080 hours. If you multiply that by the minimum wage rate they will be pulling in $15,080 yearly ($1,257 monthly) before taxes. After taxes are deducted the take home would be $12,818 a year, or $1,068 a month. Surviving on minimum wage may seem close to impossible, especially in today's economy, but many families are doing just that. The key is to have a budget plan and know where you're going so there are no financial surprises in the way. There are several possible steps that you could incorporate in your budget plan, however 3 of them that you could use are: shopping at discount stores, getting creative with your work commute, and using credit cards
