Persuasive Essay On Minimum Wage
All over the United States the rate of minimum wage workers being adult instead of teenagers is drastically increasing. “Since half of all minimum wage workers’ are adults, less can be said about with confidence about the effect of minimum wage on employment in low-wage industries” (Brown, Gilroy, and Cohen 524). To remain out of poverty, these adults take the lower income jobs so they can provide for themselves and their family. Some of the top successful low income businesses such as fast food and retail are the type of jobs these people take. Minimum wage is contributing to the increase of people with low income and unemployment because for unskilled workers it is harder to find jobs, so they take whatever job they can get. Increasing the minimum wage will benefit people with low income, benefit the economy, and benefit people pursuing a higher education.
