The use of cell phones in drivers have been linked too frequently in accidents.

There are too many distractions in life as it is, are we so arrogant to think that we are such amazing drivers that we can do several things at once? Most accidents involving cell phones wouldn 't have happened if the driver wasn 't distracted. When we drive that should be the only activity we are doing. Posted by: Gri5Helpful Report Post Like Reply 0 0 Cell phone usage while driving should be made illegal everywhere to make the roads safer.

Many studies have indicated that driving while talking on a cell phone leads to more accidents. Given that fact, there is no reason not to legislate against talking on a cell phone and driving at the same time. It 's rare that anyone would need to make a phone call that could not wait until they had the opportunity to pull off the road. If everyone would ignore their cell phones while they are driving, the roads would be much safer for travel. Posted by: TrainLock Report Post Like Reply 0 0 yes illegal

Yes because more deaths have happend becuase of people being distracted due to their phone now i dont want to be on the road when someone gets distracted and crashes in my opoion it should be banned and i agree it worst than drunk driving and definaltey worse than people being idiots Posted by: Anonymous Report Post Like Reply 0 0 Yes BUT Don 't Apply It To Hands-Free Cell Phone Use

Your hands need to be on the wheel when driving, but speaking into a hands-free device is no more distracting than talking to people in the backseat, so that should be allowed. A limited ban is reasonable, but it would be ridiculous to apply it to hands-free technology when there is no problem with that. Posted by: MasturDbtor Report Post Like Reply 0 0 Cell phones are a distraction.

The use of cellular devices while driving is now illegal in some states. This is due to the fact that when drivers behind the wheel of a car their only priority should be to drive. While driving and on a phone at the same time a driver is going to be distracted, and when drivers are distracted they are more likely to cause or be involved in an accident. Although it may seem entertaining and fun, driving while using a cellular device can lead to major problems. For example, driving while on a handheld device will lead to distracted driving. It has been scientifically proven that humans are not good at multitasking. We tend to put most of our focus into one thing at a time, while leaving the other task setting in the background. Because of this…

New York Daily News reported “….The study showed that drivers who use cell phones to talk while behind the wheel are likely to be poor multi-taskers then those who don’t.” Cell phone use in a car has grown dramatically. Cell phone distraction makes drivers less aware of their surroundings such as pedestrians crossing the road to children getting off the school bus with a stop sign. Drivers need to be more aware of what’s going on the road instead of being on their phone jeopardizing another human’s life. Drivers should not be allowed to use cell phones while driving because talking on a cellphone while driving immediately reduces your concentration and cause car accidents.…

Accidents happen everyday on the road. Some are from bad weather conditions, others are because the driver is under the influence of alcohol, and many are caused by distracted drivers on their cellular phone. If people were more aware of how many people are injured or killed by someone who was using their phone while driving , then they wouldn't use their own phone while driving. If making a law that says it is illegal to use a handheld phone and drive will make people stop becoming distracted while driving, then it should be put into effect. A solution for a driver who wants to use their phone while driving would be to use the hands free option on their phone, or to purchase a tool to hold the phone while driving.…

Over the years cellphones and driving have both seen many changes. Both of these things have had major changes most people look at all the changes as great, but if the two are put together the outcome is not so great. Studies show that car accidents involving cellphones are one of the leading causes of death of women under the age of thirty-five (Moore). More and more people are using their phones while driving; not knowing they are putting not only their own lives in danger but also the lives of other drivers. There are those few people who do not use their phones while behind the wheel, but they have probably witnessed someone else doing it. Last year, 16 percent of the United States fatalities were made up by car accidents involving cellular phone. The year before that, in 2008, it was only 10 percent. Both of those numbers are HUGE and this what can happen when drivers engage in distractive driving while operating a cell phone. (OVER HEAD) Now why is drinking and driving illegal but not driving while using the cell phone? I’m not talking about talking on the phone while driving, because we engage in talking with passengers in our vehicles often, but driving and holding a cell phone weather its internet, texting or driving with one hand and talking with the other is extremely unsafe!…

The Government has made attempts to try to prevent these distractions from happening. Hands-free was created to be a safer alternative to holding a phone while driving. While in theory this was a safer route, but over 30 studies show that in reality hands-free is no safer than holding the phone itself. Just because your hands are remaining on the wheel does not mean your mind is focus on driving (Mohn, 2014). Since the use for hands-free really is not safer or because most people choose not to use it. We should just overall ban the use of cell phones to all drivers, because as of March, 2016, there were no states that have bans on all cell phone use of all drivers, but 37 states and D.C. have ban all cell phone use for novice or teen drivers (Teigen,…

Ever been stuck at a light behind somebody who is not paying attention because of their cell phone? It's annoying right. Well that might not be a problem anymore. Many states have banned the use of hand-held devices while driving. Knowing about all the people that have been killed in accidents involving cell phones, I one-hundred percent agree with this law. Using your cell phone while driving can lead to lack of focus on the road, especially among young drivers who are not as experienced as their adult counterparts. Driving takes an extreme amount of concentration, due to the many things that could happen on the road. From cars slamming on brakes in front of you, to people cutting in and out of traffic, you need to have your undivided…

The driver is not the only one affected. If the distracted driver hits someone, then the other person is affected as well. According to McFeatters, “The deaths of twenty five people and injuries to 135 others in a 2008 California train crash was attributed to cell-phone use.” This means that thousands of Americans are suffering injuries and deaths due to irresponsible drivers who decide to make phone call or text while driving. The use of cell phones on the road is not worth the risk of someone’s life. For example, about six months ago, I was driving on the highway no more than twenty five miles per hour. While I was driving I received a text message. I looked down for a couple of seconds to answer. When I looked up again, I did not see the truck that was in front of me had totally stopped. The next thing I knew I had crashed my car. Luckily, nothing happened to me, but my car was a total loss. According to Rachtel, “Studies show that motorists who send or receive a text message have a tendency to take their eyes off the road for five seconds to do so. That is enough time for their car to travel more than the length of a football field at highway speeds.” Unfortunately, many young people think that while driving answering a call or text would not make a difference, but what they do not realize is that it only takes couple of seconds for an accident to occur. This involves the lives of innocent…

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has tried to ban people from using their phones on the road. It improved pretty much better in some states. People are now used to have their phone with them anywhere they go; it’s not so easy to ban them all at once. However, it is a fact that if people stop using their phone while driving, they will focus more on the road and there is going to be less car…

Even is a person is just talking to someone on the phone, it removes one hand that helps stabilize the steering wheel and could also cause an accident. In 2016, 391,00 people were injured due to a distracted driving accident which not only includes texting while driving, but also talking on the phone while driving. However, what about all of the new technology that allows people to talk on phones without actually holding a phone? While it may seem like a good solution and is slightly safer, it still takes some of the drivers attention away from the road and makes them less aware of their surroundings. When people are driving, they should have their full attention on the road and not be distracted by talking on the phone.…
