Persuasive Essay on Astrology
The study of astrology may seem like a world full of mysticism and uncertainty. It is natural to question how someone’s personality traits can be determined by planetary alignments; after all it does seem far-fetched. Astrology and the zodiac are a lot more complex than the average person realizes. Until you take the time to fully research and understand astrology, it’s impossible to get the most accurate zodiac profile. In ancient times, astrology was closely linked to fields such as astronomy, philosophy and medicine. Astrology is a broad topic with deep roots in history that must be broken down in order to fully understand it. The average person is only aware of their sun sign; this is only the beginning of one’s zodiac profile. Each planet in our solar system is representative of a certain aspect of life. In order to get the most precise reading of your zodiac, you have to know which sign was affecting each planet on the date and time you were born. This can become as specific as to what degree the planet is influenced by its respective sign. If you weren’t aware of how in depth a study astrology is, I encourage you to find out. Daily and even monthly horoscopes simply aren’t specific enough. No two people’s zodiac profile is the same (unless you were born on the same day, time and at the same place), so in essence no two people’s horoscope can be the same. Magazines and websites grouping whole zodiac signs into one small group and giving a general horoscope is why there is a drastic decrease in accuracy. You can’t blame people for becoming skeptics because the horoscopes they have been exposed to aren’t the product of “real” astrology. There are a number of different ways to discover your “true” zodiac, the easiest of these being through the internet. By simply typing in “zodiac calculator”, numerous websites will pop up. You want to choose one that requires your date, time and place of birth. The results you get should be overwhelming, after all there’s a lot that goes into your zodiac. Most websites provide you with a diagram that shows the symbols for each planet and sign as well as how they correspond with each other. You may find you have a lot of the same signs in different planets, a variety of signs in the same planets or a mixture of both. Different websites offer different explanations. Some are very detailed and not only explain what your sign and planet combination means but also, the “house” the combination is in. For a beginner who doesn’t know what all that means, I suggest just sticking to the basics, the sign, planet and degree. I can almost guarantee you this will be an enlightening experience. You’ll read something and think to yourself “oh my god, that’s me!” You may even feel like you’re privacy is being invaded and you’ll question how your zodiac can know so much about you, sometimes more than you know about yourself.
I can’t explain how or why the zodiac is valid, but I encourage you to at least give astrology a chance. It will take less than five minutes to enter your information into a website and read the information it gives you. Whether you are a total skeptic of astrology or read horoscopes every now and then out of curiosity you should take the time to learn a little bit more about yourself through astrology.

I don’t feel that the position of celestial objects at the moment of our birth have an effect on our characters, .lives or destinies. Life is what you make it. We control our own destinies. If I do not like something it is my responsibility to change it. Many people believe that because you are born during a certain time of the year that you are programmed to act like the zodiac sign that falls under your birth month and birth date. You have a belief that the astrological signs have an important part of your life. I believe that astrological signs are life superstitions. Astrology readings are in the newspaper, on the internet, on menus at oriental restaurants. I wonder if astrology horoscopes were not all over the place how likely would it be that half of America would continue to believe.…

Since I have yet to reach a part where everyone’s birth date is given, part of the comprehension will be in finding whatever characteristics best match the characters. The interesting part about my vision here, is that each zodiac sign has not only a certain set of traits, but usually their compatibility is also given. With a growing romantic interest, and even animus between certain characters, the zodiac sign should give some insight on the role of the character as well as how they…

While most people might take offense at being labeled as a loner, Aquarius don’t mind one bit. They prefer to be by themselves and their favorite moments of the day are the ones filled with silence. They are incredibly smart people and hard-working, so you will probably find that many Aquarius people are lawyers because they don’t mind working long hours and they also don’t mind making people mad. Even though they don’t like confrontation, they will go head-to-head with someone if it means that they’re sticking up for what they believe in. You will probably see this zodiac sign the least in social situations because an Aquarius would rather spend the night alone than go to a party where they have to make meaningless chit chat.…

Over the course of time, humans have created many studies that will eventually shape how we live, but one of those studies has had a lasting impact. Astrology is the study that largely changed the Elizabethan Era. "Astrology is the study of patterns and relationships -- of planets in motion, our birth chart, synastry with others, the make-up of elements -- and using that knowledge as a tool to find meaning" (Hall 1). Astrology is not science because it contains mostly beliefs that come from different religions, but it has a different category. Astrology was one of the most important studies at the time of the Elizabethan Era because it influenced many courses of events of humans and showed the fate of, it would make many people develop superstitions and new beliefs, and it affected the themes of famous stories, such as, The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.…

As stated before, the premises of both astrology and mythology are so general that any outcome satisfies the idea at hand. This is one major pillar of science. Astrology and mythology have shown zero ideas that could be tested and proven true. Science requires an individual, scientist, or researcher create predictions of an idea. Then they must use observation, research, and experiments to test that prediction and falsify the idea. Nothing in science is ever considered to be 100% factual or true. That is why astrology and mythology can not be categorized as science. In an individual's mind, their belief system or religion is 100% true. Individuals do not test their belief systems using evidence.…

There are a dozen Chinese zodiac signs and each of them carries its own specific characteristics. The idea is that each individual is born into a specific sign. Then, based on the sign that you’re born into, your character will reflect that of others born into that sign. Each individual sign has both good and bad traits that define them, just as we humans have both good and bad aspects to us. The zodiac signs are important in Chinese culture, as you can clearly see in Amy Tan’s novel ‘The Joy Luck Club’. I will be discussing how one character from the novel, Waverly Jong, has a personality that very well represents the Dragon Zodiac sign.…

As a professed Christian, I have often been guilty of looking at horoscopes and once for a lark, going to a psychic. However; even when I was indulging in each of these activities I felt a little squeamish. I was taught to believe that God alone knows our futures. By reading the horoscopes and going to the psychic, I was not being true to my religious convictions. As Christians, we have to be careful to stay away from anything that opposes biblical teaching. When we indulge in something that is superstitious it…
