Persuasive Essay On Are We Alone
NASA has identified many planets outside our solar system. According to the article “Out of this world,” the organization has discovered over twelve hundred thousand exoplanets throughout the Milky Way Galaxy. The TedX video “Are we Alone” explained that there are millions of planets in our universe. Astronomers discovered these planets by measuring the brightness of distant stars over time. Moreover they measured the brightness using advanced telescopes such as the Kepler. If the brightness fluctuates, there is a planetary object orbiting in front of it. Likewise, using this methodology, NASA expects to find many more planets in the future.
Some planets have a possibility of life. Astronomers recently discovered three new planets that might have that possibility. For example, the article “Human life may be possible on three new planets” states that the planets circle around a star called TRAPPIST-1. This star is one-tenth the size of our sun and it’s considered an ultra cool dwarf star. Although, this star is smaller than our sun there is still a possibility of discovering different life forms on its planets. According to the “Crash Course” video, there are billions of planets that could sustain life. There is most likely to be living creatures on at least one of these three planets. …show more content…
The online article entitled “Finding Life Beyond Earth is Within Reach” from NASA points out that in this decade alone we have been finding more and more earth-like planets that could have life. However, we haven’t found life on any of these planets yet. We need to find more earth-like planets because if there is life on one of them, then we can know where their at. Astrophysicists will continue to look in the space to find more earth-like
