Persuasive Essay About Education In America
In the years before our generation, education was one of America’s most valuable resources. It had us on top of all other countries, making us some of the most intelligent people in the world, but today conditions have changed. Education isn’t the same and it’s creating such a vast division between not only our surrounding countries, but in our generations as well. Lowered curriculum standards, lack of a support system, and the creation of stereotypes of today’s teenagers are just minimal parts of the reason that education is losing it’s value to teens in the United States.
Twenty years ago, the United States was ranked number one for high school and college level education. We were ahead of countries like Japan and Singapore, but today we have fallen behind to fourteenth place as of 2015. Our country went from having countries cower away from us in fear to being somewhat of a global joke. This is because our curriculum standards have dropped significantly. On a daily basis, people get judged, which just so happens to be the way of life. From the color of our skin to the way we talk. Judgement never ends. So many adults believe that all teenagers are the same. We’re all “lazy” and “self-absorbed.” Young people don’t care about anyone but ourselves and school is just there to pass the time. Never have I heard anything quite the opposite of the people I know and the me I know. Personally, I care more about the well-being of others than I do myself and as for education? Learning is one of my greatest values. Teachers and adults can sit here for as long as they’d like and say that kids of my generation don’t do anything, but the world is changing and they don’t even realize it. Today’s generation may just get things done slightly more different than they’re used
