Personalities Assessments and Theories The personality of an individual has been assessed through many different personality theories there is the psychodynamic theory, humanistic theory and the traits theory.
Psychodynamic theories see behavior as the product of internal psychological forces that operate outside of our conscious awareness (chapter 10, page 336). Also it is the study psychic energy and the way it is transformed, and it is expressed in our behavior. Freud’s ideas form the basis of psychoanalysis which is a term that refers to his particular psychodynamic theory of personality and to the form of therapy that was invented by Freud (chapter 10, page336). Freud’s emphasis on fact were not away or maybe even often, are aware of the real causes of one’s behavior that has fundamentally changed the way that view others or themselves.
The humanistic theories emphasizes that we are positively motivated and to progress toward higher levels of or function, there is more to human existence than to deal with hidden conflicts (chapter10, page 344). One of the most prominent humanistic theorists, Carl Rogers contended that women and men develop personalities in the service of their positive goals; every organism is born with certain innate capacities, capabilities or potentialities, which is like a blue print where substance is added to our life progress (chapter 10, page 344).
Then there is the trait theories, with this it emphasize on the early childhood experiences that we have, and to try explain the different personalities that all humans have. With these traits it shows how all people are different for no one has the same personality, there is the big five which are the dimensions of personality, they are extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness/ dependability, emotional stability, openness to experience culture intellect ( chapter 10, page 348).
In taking the personality test it stated that I was ESTJ administrator, much in touch with the external environment, very responsible, pillar of strength 8.7 percent of total population (http://similarminds.com/jungword.html). Taking this test shows the objective trait, for everyone’s personality is different, and with this test it shows it I am sure not anyone had the same score as someone else.
