Personal Statement: Self Analysis
I am an academic. An academic is a lifelong learner who strives to pull information out of every experience. This is a value that my parents have always instilled in me. This is huge part of my positionality. Positionality is the many implications and factors that stabilize an individual. My father use to consistently say that no one can ever take knowledge away from you. He is correct, material things come and go but no matter what, one can always be intelligent. And it is the intelligence for life that I seek. Wisdom is a goal for me, so that in the future, I can reap the many benefits that stems from being an educated individual. The most important thing about being a lifelong learner, is that inherently one can also be a lifelong teacher.

La Verne has four core values: Ethical reasoning, diversity and inclusivity, lifelong learning, and community and civic engagement. I believe that through all of the co curricular activities I have done this semester, I have encompassed all those values into my experiences. Ethical reasoning was used as I learned how to further respect individuals when I went to the LACMA museum. I was exposed to new peoples, new cultures and I had to support art with respect to individuals. This core value was equally important in class as I engaged with many different individuals who shared values that differ from mine, I accepted their differences and respected them through thought. I mentioned earlier that lifelong learning has been a part of my goals throughout my life. Going to museums, reading books, talking to people is all ways that I can continue to learn. I strive to glean any knowledge, I feel as though something can be taken from each experience. Lastly, I was able to develop civic and community engagement skills in predominantly every cocurricular activity and every class. I think I have found a new appreciation for the community as the La Verne community has benefited me with so many special things. Friends, teachers, peers, and citizens have all created a sense of belonging to me in a community. I will forever seek a place in a community because I know how important it is to have an enhanced community
