Personal Response 1 Earth Song
Earth Song!
Michael Jackson!

!

The biggest problem in todays world is that we are blinded to see the damage that is being done to our planet earth and how it has affected the lives of many especially the lives of innocent children. Throughout this song we can see no future ahead of us without the society changing and for them to show humanity. In the song ‘Earth Song’ written and performed by the King of Pop Michael Jackson exposes the cruelness of society and how we are the reason for not living the life that was promised to us, and make us examine ourselves.! !

Through this song Michael Jackson talks about our planet earth and how we the society are destroying it and because of this what has been affected because of ‘us’. The environmental issues that Michael addressed throughout this song was deforestation and overfishing in our very own oceans which is getting rid of the species existence more and more as the days go by. One heartbreaking issue is that mentioned is innocent children dying or should we say they are being killed because of selfish people in our society just as Michael says “Did you ever stop to notice, All the children dead from war?” Doesn't this just shatter your hearts knowing because of us other people are dying? Nearly the whole song is full of rhetorical questions that strike us like an arrow to our chest piercing through every tissue and cell within us which shakes us completely because we are accountable for the state our planet is at the moment and Michael makes his point clear that we know all of this in happening and that we are choosing to ignore it all. This song should be studied by Year 12 students as it opens the eyes of the future leaders that are among them and it gives them a deeper understanding of the many issues that are all around us but not yet addressed and put a stop to. The consequences of what might happen in the future will get the students to make wiser choices and it also gives them the opportunity to at least

The song is about how any government in any country would much rather kill there own people and race then spend the money on food and things that will preserve it. This song also explains how greedy the government and the world can really be, “ ever time you drop the boom you kill the god your child has born” I think this means all life is important and anyone including the children can change or have a huge impact on the world. The song also means that if we spend money on life instead of death the world would be a better place and there wouldn’t be any more wars, death for no reason or fighting.…

Millions of people in the world listen to music for all different reasons. Most people all over the world listen to different genres of music in order to relax, but not too many people pay attention to the actual lyrics of a song. If you listen to the lyrics of a song you will realize that many songs have important messages or themes to them. An example of this is the lyrics of the song “Changes” by Tupac Shakur. If you listen to this song, you will realize that Tupac raps about not only the problems that African Americans face from society, but also the struggles that poor people in society have to endure and overcome. Many people in society can relate to this song and I personally believe the main theme and points in the song hold great truth to many people living in poverty in America today.…

Humans don't naturally want to kill each other otherwise the world would be chaotic. Some people can't even think about taking the life of another human being. Some people think that violence is ok and war is fine but they don't think about the toll it takes on the people and their families. War damages people physically without a doubt but also damages the mentally, and socially. The damage taken from war is thoroughly shown in the book The Things They Carried by Tim O'brien, the veteran Donald Burkle, and the song “Breakdown” by hip hop artist J. Cole.…

Although a lot of effects have manifested in today’s time, there’s only a little effort exerted to lessen these harms. First, critics pointed out that the nature is an ever-evolving entity. As it is ever-evolving, whatever we do to it – may it be good or bad – actually doesn’t have any bearing because it is destined to change the nature that we once knew. Another thing that critics pointed out was that humans are part and parcel of nature itself. Critics say we are one with nature. If this is the case, it is possible for ourselves to be blamed for whatever experiences nature we have and we can be held liable because we are nature.…

Music can affect a person in many ways, it can change his views, decisions, beliefs and behavior through the lyrics and the message the song’s trying to convey. For example, when unpleasant messages about discrimination are evident in lyrics of some songs, this could be criticized by the society for discriminating a certain groups of people. These groups of people could be discriminated among gender, race or religion. When these kinds of notion continues, these groups of people will remain to be inferior in the society; thus, widening the division between the people.…

The most current case has been the horrible civil war between the Syrian government and Arab Spring protests. And to just top the already abominable war, the ISIS are destroying villages, torturing children, holding people hostage, and cutting heads of news reporters. The thought of these acts happening as a daily routine, makes most definitely me feel sick. It’s not just the ISIS running about as they will murdering their own people that makes innocent people flee, it’s the fear and hunger which drives them to the breaking point. Even if we were to stop the massive amount of destruction, bombings and burnings, Syria wouldn’t be the same country as it was before the war. The population of Syria would still be haunted by hunger, wounds and the fear and sorrow that lie as a fog around the country. It would take years of rebuilding broken cities, and Syria would still be as wounded as it is now. There would be millions of people without a home, and with scars so deep that not even the renewed chance of a life would heal…
