Personal Narrative: What I Learned In College
Some things I have learned in college this year, it has been lit and laid back. Not what a normal college student would say I agree. There’s been days I regret that I stayed up way to late hanging with the boys doing what college kids normally do. But you can’t go wrong with a couple of beer and blunt or two, to help kick off with the next day, right? I go to class, never missed a day make decent grades, and put forth my effort and strive for the best. Speaking of that, striving is excellent in the making. Doing what’s best and studying hard takes lots of self-discipline. Being I’m 20 I’ve been stoned half my life, momma didn’t raise a fool I get the job done. I learn a few things here and there, how to cope with people is one. Why let someone close to you when they leave in the end? Why tell someone so much to just be traded and left for dead? College is joke they don’t test you for what the instructor taught you. It’s all about your memory and the things you store in your head. It’s all a card game got to know which one to play or how you deal the next hand, just like the ones you played when you were a kid. …show more content…
You want always have that dream job that you went to college for or that nice pay check, sometimes it takes years of looking, putting in job application after job application just to make it somewhere in life. Whatever you do don’t give your hopes up, you can work the streets sling that dope, stay on your grind. That would be the coward’s way out, you got to want it not for just what your family would say about the life you choose but want it for yourself. There are many different trades you can learn from this school welding being one of mine. Ive been taught how to braze that iron coil still, bet I could build that trump tower with American steel. All on how you look at things got to dream big am

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…

In high school, I always considered myself a good student. I payed attention in class, took notes, and genuinely took interest in my education. As a college student, I have tried to do the same thing. Of course, college is not quite the same as high school, and I have not always gotten the near-perfect results I used to expect. While I am working on my perfectionism as a separate issue, I am glad to take this opportunity to learn more about how to succeed in college. Three strategies I learned in this chapter include how to better prepare before class, how to review after class, and how to improve my note-taking strategies.…

As the air blew I tried to stay as calm as I could as this was my first time taking a course at Merritt community college. Nervously I opened the classroom door, the room was not as big as I expected it to be, the chairs were all aligned perfectly straight looking at the board. To my surprise the class was decorated with Hispanic history, which brought me a sense of confidence and belonging. As I took my seat, I didn’t feel nervous anymore and I felt like I was a college student and not a high school student. That day I became a first generation college student ready to take US History.…

When I first arrived to Richmond Early College High School, I anticipated an academic career characterized by hard work, nightly homework assignments, and incredible doses of stress that a middle school classroom could not synthesize. Although I actually landed my first college class in the second semester of my ninth grade year (ACA, which was required for all newbies and taken simultaneously by all 50 of us), I found myself still shaken. I looked forwarded to the challenges of a college experience, but merely hearing the click of my instructor's heel's as I sat in that classroom for the first time sent my bones into a furious rattle. A worrywart by nature, I was both delighted and horrified by ACA.…

Coming into my first quarter of college I did not know what to really expect. I was very nervous and thought to myself if I could actually be successful in college. As the quarter went on, yes it was difficult at times, but I managed to work hard and get through everything. I have had good experiences and I have had bad experiences. I have had a mixture of these experiences throughout my classes. Academically I did a relatively good job. Although most of the time I was lazy and watched netflix a lot, towards the end of the quarter I did better on fully completing my work as well as watching less television.…
